anbraxas 1 Posted January 16, 2013 Hello everyone. I whipped up a quick video talking about hacking in DayZ WarZ and various FPS games and and simple, old but effective system of dealing with hackers. Please let me know what your personal thoughts on this are.
*Exile* Sami 188 Posted January 16, 2013 I honestly like punkbuster much more then anything else, mostly because when I played games that ran that program I never experienced hackers or even had a slight thought someone was hacking, I would like to see this being used on Standalone.

chris_heyward 47 Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) Why didn't you just suggest using punkbuster instead of making a long video? Oh and half the current admins are young and probably wouldn't even bother checking screenshots. And Standalone, if coded correctly won't need PB or BE.pb sucks.I can't watch op's video but there really is no 'solution' to hacking, only minor prevention. There isn't a whole solution no but the devs can make it really damn hard for people to hack. Look at EvE-Online, no hacks. Just the odd exploit that is found quickly and patched. EvE uses no PB or BE Edited January 16, 2013 by Be4st
anbraxas 1 Posted January 16, 2013 It depends on how much attention a game gains. Say that eve online had been as popular as world of warcraft for example. It would have had just as many hacks. World of Warcraft has toughly coded as that game is, is hacked on a consistent basis. The only difference is the damage isnt perminant. Such as servers lagging out, or people losing items forever. If eve online had half the popularity I am sure it would be riddled with hacks. The fact that the game's design makes it undesirable to play curbs that because there is no need or rush to get to the "top" so to speakNo matter how well a games coded they will be hack scripted or any various forms of being cheated. So saying it relies on a good code isnt good enough. Even with the best coding client side additions such as aimbots ect still come through.I didn't suggest only punk buster because punk buster functions as a code checker normally. It was only for that one specific game it functioned as a background check and took the screen shots. To touch on the subject of admins being young ect. I wish there was a way to avoid that type of thing. unfortunately kids get ahold of their parents credit cards all the time. I think the current community demonstrates the major problems of allowing people to host their own servers.Rolling restarts to farm the best loot. Restarting servers to reset vehical wrecks. Abuse of power to enhance gameplay ect. Not to mention DayZ used to be a one character per person kind of system so if you decided to play a bandit you would be a bandit for a long time to come, vs the way it is now where every server gives you a fresh new chracter. Letting people host their own servers has somewhat destroyed the prospect of a persistent world.
p4nnus 42 Posted January 16, 2013 Again, SA will use VAC! Problem not solved, but reduced much. And even if you would enjoy listening to your own voice, this video is entirely purposeless. One word would have been enough: PunkBuster.
