Nyctalgia (DayZ) 7 Posted January 21, 2013 (edited) Oh my, the level of maturity in this thread is staggeringly low, both from OP and a few posters. Female models are available, it's just that some hosts turn them off due to the ghillie/camo suit problem (which they have every right to, if OPs got a problem with that take it up with the respective server admins). When standalone comes along both sexes will be able to wear all clothing. And Victus, the hitboxes probably won't be an issue, DayZ is going for realism whereas Gears of War has a heavily stylized art style (=decided to cross their males with bulls). The current models (subject to change, probably) can be seen here: Edited January 21, 2013 by Nyctalgia

But beyond some simple changes to female characters (hair, breasts, posterior, etc..) the hitboxes themselves have stayed largely the same. This is a requirement for our skeleton as we can't go outside of the boundaries for this.

rocket 16567 Posted January 21, 2013 That's great to hear man, nice one.Although, we have spawned a long term project to create a new male and female skeleton (our old skeleton hasn't changed for nearly ten years I think). So this problem could later come again, and I'm not sure how best we solve it then in order to retain the slight gender differences in proportion etc... Very Ape 748 Posted January 21, 2013 In a game such as Gears of War, females do have a distinct advantage that will be exploited, given that it's a very hectic, close-quarters, arcade-like shooter. People don't tend to care about how they look, simply acting on whatever will help them achieve a higher score. DayZ isn't so-- the only advantage that females could have is the slightly smaller target they'd represent, and the male hormones of other survivors staying their guns. For the most part, male players will opt for male avatars, seeing as DayZ is a tad more role-play oriented, and will allow for customization. We'll all be too focused on mutinously grooming our characters, which we now care for that much more thanks to clothing customization, to bother with a slight advantage that would detract from our enjoyment of our beautiful avatars. Grodenn 53 Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) DayZ is based on Arma 2, Arma 2 is a war game. Although women can join the army in many countries none of them allow women to be where the bullets are shot. I'm 100% sure that this is something they will fix until the standalone and nothing to talk about.Right you do know that even your own country employs female _SOLDIERS_ right (which was a right introduced in the 1980s)?OT: Well I think the main reason why servers disable female chars is because they are bugged (can't wear cammo / ghillie suites) Edited January 22, 2013 by Grodenn
