hello everyone is there a day z single player and if so can you change the map ?

u can edit the map in arma 2 editor

press ctrl + E in main menu

if u got mod=@dayz parameter in launch options u will have most of the dayz objects and characters

There is a way but its not really any fun. You go and download all the files you need for setting up a server and lock/password the server so that no-one else can join

Play on a private hive server when its night time, its virtually single player :P (and awesome btw too) :P

There is no officially supported way to play singleplayer, no. DayZ is all about human interaction anyway. :)

Or you can rewind to 1.7.3. Singleplayer is unlocked but only dayz items work, meaning you can only use the editor or armory etc ^^

Use DayZ Commander and install the custom maps easily from there

I find it hard to understand that a game like this, with all the popularity it has, has no single player counterpart, But has to follow a common trend of online gaming.

Really i do.

Rocket may not be in it for the money but Bohemia are not doing themselves any favours for not trying to appeal to a broader market. I can see a single player game selling well. A few story driven roles (Perspective of a child, citizen, soldier ec) and a deeper look at the infection or even a end game of getting from A to B would suffice as a single player experience.

A child in game could try to make it back to their home from school as the outbreak takes hold, failing this they could just make a run for the forests where their imagination takes hold.

A citizen could return home and look for his family, and hope for dear life he finds them before the infected do. He could follow notes and information in order to find them.

A soldier could arrive on the scene, the bravado slowly turning into the hopelessness of it all. Should he stay and fight or run like so many of his comrades?

Each with horror and intrigue, though not tying together and a view from many different perspectives.

DayZ, this is your story...............

there is a single player its on the namalsk map. load arma 2 and go to the mods section and turn it on (u might have to turn other stuff off im not sure but its there), it has the blood suckers.

Should probably include you need to download the namalsk dayz mod. i use dayz commander.

I stumbled upon it when I was looking for single player options. There is a forum that is linked off the site that does give some info. I only use it for single player and it got me over the learning curve and sometimes I use it when I just want to jump on a play for a half hour or so on not risk getting my head blown off.

Oh and is is free.

if you filter for number of players on dayzcommander you can find a lot of empty servers..until you aren't 5-6 players and you are in a major spot, you are alone..

I've been playing more and more on-line and less and less single player. If I were on more often I would try to find someone to hook up with.

I'm not a bandit and don't want to go at it alone all the time.
