Thinking about starting a new project.

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of starting a DayZ server, completely user funded by donations. As in making such, I would recruit enough administrators to be on 24/7 and ones that actually care about the servers user base. I have experience in running servers for other online games so I am not completely a nub to it. What do you guys think, is this completely plausible?

There are already far too many servers in my opinion and the population is already spread too thin. There are dozens of servers just like the one that you mentioned. Instead, why don't you just go help one of the already set up ones?

I have been to servers like the one you mention but the administration is spread too thinly to be active enough. I am talking about having an administrator on 24 hours a day.

What beast said. We have an invite server. Usually between 6-24 players online most in evenings. We dont ever have any hacker problems to admin but we pay for that for not having the server public and as a result its quiet. Ours is donation based, but again our admin base are mostly 30+ in age so its not like server costs are an issue.

Ive tried inviting a couple of teams to play to make ours a bit more exciting but there are just to many servers now.

Come join ours;)
