djkling 5 Posted June 18, 2012 OK, as i see it the primary problem we now have is that you start with no weapon. This would be fine EXCEPT that the zeds can see you much better and they RUN. I am not sure if this can be dealt with but i'd rather see slower, dumber, more blind zombies... especially if we want to start people with no weapon. Melee s out of the question because of how its handled, and without that its hard to make a "Real" sim since most people would resort to hatchets, boards, bats... when the ammo runs out. PLus we have less guns spawning.I'm findingnow I spawn in areas that seem safe and out of nowhere zeds swarm me. Its very difficult on the new player.Another proposition would be to have different server setups, some which allow start weapons, some which are more hardcore. But I want to be able to at least play more than 5 minutes at a time, which is all i've gotten this morning with the new patch :\cripple the weapon system... ok, i get it... but if we're going there we should make it easier to sneak around the zeds. Drawing inspiration from BF3, you could easily add some sort of long animation(like the step over wall key) based single hit kill. This would severely limit it's usefulness, since if there is more than one zombie chasing/attacking you, you'd be mauled while meleeing the first. You could even have it be very noisy, further limiting when such an attack could be used.I didn't really feel like something like that was necessary until they decided we should start foodless, waterless, and defenseless.I know that dying now before even finding a weapon is going to be very frustrating. DeanBandit2450 0 Posted June 18, 2012 if we had a zombie apocalypse, most people wouldn't have guns at first. and just cos you would rather see slower, dumber, more blind zombies doesn't make that realistic. if a threat broke out, a fresh zombie is going to have a fully functioning muscular system, probably just as good vision as they had prior, and of course, they have their instincts. depending how the infection affects the nervous system, it's still going to take time for eyes/muscles to start rotting, if at all, and it will still take time for them to break their legs and everything else that would actually make them slow. with a little patience it is still relatively easy to sneak around and gear up, though it IS much harder in higher populated areas. in a real apocalypse, if you're trying to loot higher populated areas without good/silent gear, then you're making a REALLY stupid move.. i'm assuming not having a meelee is a limitation of arma2 rather than dayz, so i hope rocket will include meelee in the final release of the game. i was disappointed when i picked up a hatchet i couldn't properly use, but hey.. still an awesome game. djkling 5 Posted June 18, 2012 Well, i'll disagree a little. First off, slower zombies would make the game more interesting and less twitch. Right now, you spawn a zed and you CAN NOT outrun it. Thats a problem. I do like the 28 days reference and all, but I think that having zombies be generaly sense deprived along the lines of senses (more along the lines of The Walking Dead style). In addition, the Arma2 engine is not designed for Melee, in that case people should have access to weapons, especially at the startFinally, if there was an apocalypse, the only people who would probably still be alive are those with guns and/or vehicles. In a war torn country like Cherno you'd see a LOT of people with firearms, even farmers and hunters. You'd also probably be prone to a military presence in cities, many of whom would have battle rifles and armoured vehicles strewn all over the place. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
