SteamyBeans 4 Posted January 11, 2013 Today when I was playing day z, I ran up a dirt road and into a barn to look for some loot. Well when I ran into the barn and I saw a name tag of another player online. Which I know shows up if you hover your mouse over someone, but this was different. The nameplate was a purplish-pink color and it said how far they were away, which was about one click. Plus their name tag never disappeared, even if I was looking in the complete opposite direction the name tag was still there. I've never seen this in my life, can someone tell me what it is? Stalker in The Trees 5 Posted January 11, 2013 Might be a hack.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) Yup, sounds like a hack. Have you ever installed a hack for DayZ by any chance? If so, that's your hack doing it's job, your global ban will soon follow. If not, leave the server. Edited January 11, 2013 by Fraggle
SteamyBeans 4 Posted January 11, 2013 No I'm not a hacker. I barely knew how to get DayZ to work with arma2. Though, this server I play on is notorious for hackers. There were around 13 people on at the time and that persons name was the only one I could see. I got worried I would die somehow so I left.

Or if not just a buggy server possibly, or maybe it was a hacker showing his position to the server.

SteamyBeans 4 Posted January 12, 2013 What's ESP? An every server I go to there are hackers. Haven't been to one yet where some idiot hasn't screwed things up.
Parasprite 35 Posted January 12, 2013 Extrasensory perception, if I'm not mistaken. I would suggest playing on private hive servers, and if you're willing to go through the (small amount of) effort to get whitelisted, a whitelist server.
SteamyBeans 4 Posted January 13, 2013 The server is private hive. Died again today because the user "Rick Grimes" teleported and mowed me down wit a machine gunHackers make this game terrible.
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) Why keep going back to the same server? A server is only as good as the admin running it. There's thousands to choose from so spend some time finding one that is run well and your problems will be solved. I can honestly say that I haven't seen a hacker in game for over 2 months.
