Standalone inventory system.

Recommended Posts

I noticed that in the recent news about the standalone there was mention of the new inventory system being similar to the old Resident Evil's. Also, that they would be using 3D models instead of 2D pictures of the items when in the inventory screen.

What do you guys think about this? Focusing more on the 3D vs. 2D aspect, bc we all know that any inventory system other than the current would be an upgrade.

Also, anyone know what slots our characters will have available for clothing? Personally I would like to see: Head, Glasses, neck, shirt, jacket, gloves, wrists, belt, pants, and shoes. Maybe a little extensive, but it would be nice to eventually have a level of customization to that intensity. Any thoughts?

I guess what it means is that you can drag equipments diectly onto your character/avatar and see it on the model.

As for slots, I think one of the mods mentioned about Hat, Face, Jacket, Pants, Shoes, not sure if I missed anything.

What the game need is a modular system, so it can be easily expanded in the future, if needed.

I think 3D vs 2D is a trivial aesthetic change unless he plans on having the added variables attached to equipment actually have a visual difference on the item itself.

Agreed, unless I misunderstood what Matt said I think whether the actual item images are 2d or 3d is purely aesthetic.

Regarding clothing options I remember reading a month or so ago that the options for clothing would be hats, coats, trousers,shoes/boots. I honestly can't remember where the post was but it was from a dev. It was over a month ago though and things on this project are moving quickly now and ever evolving. That will be the case for the next year until they're happy to call it finished.

Eh, the use of the 3D models in the inventory is useless, stupid and gimmicky unless he plans to add a feature which allows you investigate/examine to progress for something...RE used it like a Rubik cube where you had to find, combine and press things on objects.

Admiring the objects aesthetically would mean the death of you because, you know, the game doesn't pause.

Yes, 3D models so you can examine yourself/others. Then clothing will need to be color coded from grey (trash), through to white, green, blue and purple. Then they'll need to add a pawn shop to cities so we can vendor our greys. All this will require a $15 monthly subscription of course.
