So I was in an army tent and I see a coyote backpack laying on the floor and in my excitement I grabbed it. But when I looked I had lost all my loot from my Alice pack. So then I panicked and picked up the backpack that was now laying on the floor In front of me only to find that it was a assault pack. My Alice pack had disappeared and also the coyote bag had gone leaving me with a crap back and no loot.

Bambi mistake. ALWAYS transfer loot from your backpack into the one you are going to pick up before picking it up.

Drop the old pack, pick up the new one, loot the old pack.

Drop the old pack, pick up the new one, loot the old pack.

Don't do this, high chance of old backpack having a display bug for you which makes it impossible to loot it.

Transer loot from old backpack to new and then pick up the new one for a guaranteed successful transferring to new backpack.

You must not only learn the survival aspects of DayZ, but the technical aspects as well.

You must remember never to put a weapon bigger than your backpack into it, or else it will *nom nom* it.

You must remember to never drive ATVs on bridges, or else the DayZ god will table-flip it over.

You must never jump off a dock, because water does nothing to soften the impact to the ground.

And most importantly...

...you can never simply walkthrough the debug plains.

There really should be a technical zombie survival guide, as all of these things may happen in a real-life scenario!

Never happened to me (in 4 months), but thanks for the warning. I'll keep it in my mind.

You have to drop your old backpack on clear ground (with no shit around).

That wont work either. I did a bit of experimenting with a friend tho, it's a display bug for the player dropping it only, the backpack is still there and my friend could see it, loot it and pick it up.

I'm lost then. Maybe it's some karma thing, secretly built in to punish players for their previous actions :)

Are you a bandit? *kidding*
