Horrible FPS on a not-too-shabby PC

Recommended Posts

So whenever I am running out in the forest, i get about 30-45 or so FPS (not too bad)

Whenever I get near towns, or get into a place with many zombies/players where I need to survive... my fps is like 10-25 and lags like a mofo.

DxDiag attached

My Specs (if you don't want to download):

- AMD FX-8150 (8 Cores, 3.6GHz)

- 16GB DDR3 "RIPJAW" RAM

- CrossfireX (2x) Radeon 7770 (1GB) Graphics Cards

- 2TB HDD

- 750W PSU

Anyone know what could cause so much lag (like 10-25 FPS) when just running over a hill, etc?

I have the latest drivers (Not beta ones, but latest drivers) and just downloaded the latest Crossfire Profiles from the AMD site (Not sure what game's it's for, but I got it.)

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

type -winxp parameter in the properties of the shortcut for arma 2 (in line "target")

this will enable the use of the 2 gpus

if ure running of steam, right click on arma 2, properties, launch settings or parameters (or something like that),

if ure running the game of dayzcommander, go to dayzcom options, there u will find a small line where u can type lauunch parameters for the game, type -winxp there

also, i see that u have a bulldozer cpu, and often these give u huge lag in games. u can solve this lag issue by updating ur bios

Thanks for the extremely quick reply!

I've added -winxp to ARMA II, A2 OA, and PMC - thanks for that tip! I couldn't find that anywhere.

I'm trying to figure out how to update this bios... I picked all the custom parts via iBuyPower.com

"Award Software International, Inc. F5 3/29/2012" (Ver. 2.4) is the current BIOS running on my machine... So I know there's got to be a newer one out there.

I'm just blind as a bat! :) I don't want to just "Wing it" though - playing Russian roulette with my PC isn't in the cards haha

Being that my motherboard is a Gigabyte chip (located here http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3907#bios)

It says that my current BIOS is F5 (3/29/2012)

CAN I download BIOS F7 (10/22/2012)? Or must it be another F5 or something?

Sorry if this is a "Supy newbie" question. I'm good with removing malicious software and building these things... not the updates, drivers, etc xD

Thanks again

Hopefully...

And sadly now I am unable to play :<

Didn't update my BIOS (couldn't figure it out, so didn't risk it)

Set -winxp on the launches so I could use the cards... but I can't successfully launch DayZ from the PlaywithSIX launcher now :(

Hmmm

yes, update to f7, also try messing with the settings and MAKE SURE (THIS IS IMPORTANT!) in the video settings, your interface resolution and other resolution is set to 100%

HELP! D:

I updated my bios successfully.

Tryed to update my graphics to the new driver (13.1 from AMD) - and got a bluescreen in the process. Something about "attempt to reset the display drivers and failed from timeout" or something like that (I can get you a picture)

I uninstalled everything I could from AMD and tried again... Still the same problem. No idea what to do... My PC is unplayable on everything now.

Even without drivers (and after taking out everything AMD from my computer) the auto-detect says "You have the latest drivers"

The manual install bluescreens.

Heeeeelp ;(
