Direct Communication

Recommended Posts

I'm in need of getting this answered. Does it really work now?

I've tried talking to maybe 10 people so far in that chat and nobody seems to read it.. unlike the Side Channel.

Yeah, but I mentioned direct communication so.. I expect that's what people know I meant.

If the server has side channel, it probably has broken direct chat.

It will work on beta servers.

since beta patch is mandatory now this should work for all players

direct channel distance is 40 meters for text and 80 for voice I believe (fading over distance)

if people are not responding then they are probably too far or just don't wanna respond (edit: or as Cyd suggested below, they do not know how to respond)

oh and BTW: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=9518

Running the most recent arma2 beta & version of day z both text and voice have worked for me with direct communication, not every new player may know how to respond though.

I'm wondering about group chat. Who sees group chat? I've been on a couple of servers since 1.7.1 and they only have group/vehicle/direct channels, and it seems nobody receives group chat (I don't see any chat).

When you spawn you are in your own group and thus only you can see your group chat. I have heard in the lobby everyone is in the same group and thus can see group chat between each other.
