Is there really such thing as a survivor & bandit anymore?

Recommended Posts

I hate to think of myself as a bandit and I don't go out of my way to kill anyone (noob hill anyone) but if you're coming face to face with a random guy you don't know in some northen town there is a good chance one of you will end up dead or at least shooting at each other. For places like the airfields, fire stations in the two big cities and heli crash sites it's KOS for anyone I see simply because I know I'm KOS for simply being there.

I've been betrayed far to many times to think "friendly" means anything other than "don't shoot till I have you in my sights" and you shouldn't expect any favours unless you know the person well.

Maybe we're all survivors now but some of us are just meaner than others.

I kill on sight, unless I'm feeling generous. I consider myself a bandit because of that, lol. So not too sure what your point is. Some people just play as medics and some don't kill anybody unless they get shot at first.

Well are not all survivors in this day an age on DayZ? now we have to survive not only zombies, weather, sickness and ourselves but Bandits as well.

And I don't even give most of them the HONOR of being called a bandit, a true bandit (in my opinion) will hunt you for your gear or for sport but to just log on DayZ and kill, because you have the capacity to kill, is not banditry its Player Killing. Also most "True" bandits i've met are not just merely kill on site, a lot of them have a home server and when they notice a regular they start to talk to you. So its more of earning ones trust.

But I guess to answer your question, no there are not Bandits and Survivors, there are Bandits, PK'ers, Medics, and Bambi's. Again this is just my opinion.

Wow have nothing to add to the thread, don't post, simple.

Back to the thread, I've never been KOS but lately I've began to notice its kill or be killed nowadays.

I generally try to communicate with other survivors over direct communication to group up, it has worked quite a few times but majority of time they will pop a shot at me so i have to put them down.

I tend to keep to myself. If I hear movement or see another player--which I usually don't, because I make Sam Fischer look as stealthy as Spyro the Dragon--I just stay down and watch and wait. The way I see it, there's plenty of loot to go around, and if you play smart you'll never be in a position where you're starving to death, dying of thirst, bleeding out, or crawling across the countryside because your legs are broken. Surviving out in the wilderness is totally doable, even if it is a bit lonely.

That's the reason why I never understood players killing other players for no reason other than to get the kill. I understand that's an aspect of the game, and I'm glad it's there--it adds another level of suspense to the whole experience--but personally I just don't see the point in wasting a bullet on somebody when you're already established.

There's a lot of times where it dissolves into group versus group, instead of bandits. I just started playing with a group. We currently have two trucks, and the last I checked a Heli. I met them, and eventually joined, because they didn't KoS me. I had the high ground on them with a MK48 ready to go, and they wouldn't of known what hit them until they were dead. I asked if they were friendly, they said they were, and I took a chance.

Do I KoS? No, not usually. I don't wait for people to shoot me, I kind of get the feel for them. If I see someone using the halos to track me, I will kill them before they get within 800m of me. If someone has the bandit skin, I'll kill them on sight because more than likely they will do the same to me. I won't go out of my way, or compromise myself beyond the reasonable risk of sniping someone to kill them, but if they are within 400m of my MK48 or 800 of my DMR I will take them out.

Some sounded very professional, right up to the point at which i googled a picture of "Spyro the Dragon".

Now your writing cannot be taken seriously...

I haven't killed another person in Dayz or been killed yet, I've watched some players from the trees but I've never seen a reason to pull the trigger on them, even the bandits. I guess that makes me just a survivor. Of course I haven't gone back to a city in awhile, I'll probably get shot as soon as I stick my head out.

Anything within 1km of a city, or in sight of the coast in general, is pretty much a full on PvP warzone on the server I play on. I stick to the North, and the only city I will visit is BZ because everything is so spaced out there loot wise, the chances of seeing someone before they see you is pretty significant and let's you either evade or attack depending on the odds. The only issue is the fields that surround it make for great sniper spots, so I usually clear the sniper spots before I move into the city.

The bandit that Kills on site is likely the survivor of any situation unless outnumbered.

It does often feel like everyone is KOS nowadays but when me and my comrades hop on we usually watch nearby players and if they seem friendly we will make contact and offer assistance. if they seem hostile we try to wait for them to open fire before we retaliate.
