Someone please help

I bought the game yesterday, downloaded all the latest mod files, and got everything set up so i should be able to play the freaking game. But I cant. Whenever I join a game I either

A) Spawn in an empty grassland with the occasional dead guy for company

or

B) Cant move at all

In both cases I can still talk to other people in the server who are happily skipping along zombie infested roads without a care in the world, so I know its not a server problem.

I downloaded and reinstalled multiple times with various methods, created new profiles, restarted steam in administrator mode, and rebooted my computer.

I just want to play the game once. Any help/comments are appreciated

Are you using the latest beta? and have you respawned?

The file i downloaded says v1.71. when i can actually move around it will let me respawn in the same place. but when i cant move it wont even say that ive died
