Playing on same computer as server?

I just created a new server using Dayz Server Controlcenter and I have no idea how to find my server or how to join it. It is up and running perfectly. Can I use the same Arma 2 copy as the server for playing on the server? Also the ip is 127.0.0.1:3206 or something like that. If I want freinds to join the server will this ip work?

I'm not positive, but I think it's a bad idea to run a server on your own computer. I don't know too much about DayZ servers, but I know plenty about Minecraft servers. I think its rather taxing to run a server on your own personal computer. Good luck though. I hope you find some help.

127.0.0.1 is a localhost IP address which won't help anyone who is trying to join outside your local network. You're going to need the external IP address for that computer along with the port number (which you already seem to have) before people are able to connect. Whatismyip.com is a good place to find this out.

Still, while I have no experience hosting a dayz server, I have hosted dedicated servers before for other games and its greatly recommended that you have a dedicated computer to run the server off of. Either a laptop that can run arma2 or like everyone else seems to be doing, renting from a server hoster.
