Farm Animal fun-sucking

A semi quick story of a DayZ noob with a very bad ending

Friend of mine bought me arma2+oa on steam sale, so we could play together. Had about a group of 6 people who wanted to do it.

First day i load it up and its fairly fun, I get used to the controls fairly quickly, utterly fail at finding a weapon on my own due to zombies. Four or so hours later i manage to get a rifle(lee enfield), and proceed to get myself killed with the noise. I am absolutely loving the game, its fantastic, and ZERO bugs so far.

second day(today) 6 hour marathon session getting together, each time one of us joins it takes us 10-60minutes to meet up.

two of our group have decent weapons, and helped the rest of us do the military base so everyone had assault rifles/ammo, during the period of gathering weapons and meeting up several of us are player killed, and the intense shootouts and hiding are exhilarating, but alas we dont have nearly enough food+drink, so our most veteran member suggests an epic run accross the map, which results halfway in the server crashing, we take the time to find a new one, gather everyone up.

AND THEN THE ADMIN OF THE NEW SERVER TURNS US INTO FARM ANIMALS, WE DC/LEAVE, AND ALL OUR GEAR IS PERMAMENTLY GONE,and we are starving to death in the middle of nowhere :/

im not even mad about the loss of gear, and time, it was fun..... but a humble request from a noob(assuming you even stayed passed the wall of text i have woven for you)...

how do i make sure that never happens again, or is this something that will be forever over our heads unless we get our own server?

BalotaBuddies.net sign up, get whitelisted, and no more worries about hackers. Bring your friends.

Do you have any proof it was the admin or have you tried discussing this with the admin? It seems like a dumb move on the admins part, as you wouldn't have many players staying in your server. As for it not happening again, there are alot of great Private Hives with attentive and non-interfering admins out there, I suggest having a look around and checking the website for the server before you join. This seems pretty unusual and I hope things improve for you :)

thanks, as for the admin after I left a friend of mine said the admin was talking to everyone on the server and making jokes, so I just assumed it was him,but there were very very few people other than my group on the server, maybe 2 others, the admin, and my group

I saw the report section but I don't remember the name or info of the server, and really just want to hit the sack for tonight

I'll talk to my friends about getting whitelisted to a good server

ugh soo frustrating :/ I was looking foreward to running into one of the big cities with my group and wrecking everything around the supermarket, especially since there were so few people on the server.

Tip for you: Dont quickly look for an alternative server, make sure you look around and find the best possible one with the most anti-hack plugins. Also good admins/mods are great if you run into some trouble :)

Yes, I was admin-in-training on balota buddies UK servers. I'm still there temporarily, helping out and I'd still play there and recommend their servers. No hassle from hackers and none of those hideous scripter kiddies.

But then I would say that as I represent them but, as Nicemod points out, there are lots of good servers (I'm sure his is another good one). So why not go look in the Private Hive Discussion Forum as that is where all the "adverts" are for all the private hive servers and you can have a look through to see if there are a few you like. You can join as many as you like.
