Unable to hear/read direct communication

Basically, my problem is this: I cannot hear anything said over mic or read anything typed in to the direct channel. Every other channel works fine for me. Before you ask, I am certain that people are actually talking to me, I've asked them. I can use direct chat and people will be able to read my messages, it's just that I can't read theirs.

I know I haven't always had this problem, but I have no idea when it started.

While googling, I've only found one other report of this problem. However, due to its nature, it's possible that other people have the problem and haven't noticed it.

I know that DayZ is an alpha and therefore quite buggy, but this is a rather large issue. Can anyone help me?

its not a dayz problem its an arma one what beta patch are you running and what beta are the guys you are trying to talk to sometimes different patches affect the chat

Well, I always keep my beta version up-to-date, and I doubt that literally everyone else is out-of-date. Is this the only thing that could be causing the problem?

I have the same problem, I can use other channels fine, others can see what I type in direct chat but I can't see what they type in direct chat. As you can imagine not being able to chat turns dayz from a hard game to a nightmare to play.

It started a few months ago for me, I have reinstalled everything, reinstalled every driver on my machine and have done every update possible and none of it helped. I have raised several tickets but in the end I have just given up.

But there are quite a few others with this problem if you search this forum. Goodluck let me know if you work anything out.

Almost two weeks and at least one beta patch later, and I'm still having this issue.

I've had it going on for 6 months now (so I have lived through many unsuccessful patches), have uninstalled and reinstalled everything but still doesn't work. :(
