spaggiari 109 Posted December 30, 2012 (edited) Hi there.I was planning to do this on my GTA:SA version of DayZ, and I think this is good enough to be implemented on the true DayZ too.So, we need a low-poly model for this:We also need a model of the normal fence (not cut), there's one in dayZ already. And a model of the cut fence (there's one in dayZ already too). And, another model of the fence, which is cut ande re-closed with wires.Maybe we could close it too with metallic wires? Then it's pretty easy to do. Once the fence is cut, it turns to the cut model. If you close it using wires, then it will turn to the closed model.datt's it.Thanks for reading! PracticalTactical 164 Posted December 30, 2012 (edited) You can run over fences with a car but a way to properly remove sections of chain link fence without a car would be nice. Edited December 30, 2012 by PracticalTactical
TheSushi 28 Posted December 30, 2012 Yeah, its not like boltcutters / wirecutters are restricted military technology anyway. It would also allow a lot more creative use of fencing in map design.
scoffield77@gmail.com 192 Posted December 30, 2012 This would change the gameplay a lot, I like it ;) They would have to be a bit rear though. I wouldn't want fences to be a pointless feature. There would also have to be a way to repair it too, maybe using zip ties or clothes hangers.
Nillzie 4 Posted January 1, 2013 Combat knife should be put in game for this, could also use it as hunting knife like the 2 tiers of flashlight
colekern 1364 Posted January 1, 2013 I think you can do this with an axe.
aksuduud 64 Posted January 1, 2013 I think there should be an option climb a chain-link fence if it has no barbed wire on it.
Sutinen 635 Posted January 1, 2013 You could cut trough metal fence with a knife and an axe? I would like to see you do that. I think bolt cutters would be good for this. Some areas like NWAF should be completely locked down, so there would be big gates with locks (Vehicle access) and an outer fence with no holes in it. Very Ape 748 Posted January 2, 2013 (edited) This suggestion really is a gem.If zombies become tougher, carefully planning your stealthy approach into a city will become a necessity. Sometimes shortcuts are needed, and a man with bolt-cutters could really be of use. It'll make scavengers into their own class, so to speak.I really hope to see people with distinguishable skills, honed with practice and time, and equipment arise, much like the medics we see now. Scavengers and hunters will hopefully become more important in standalone.Random suggestion; perhaps the bolt-cutter could be bigger (allowing players to get through certain locked gates), and be seen hanging at the player's hip at all times, as opposed to stored in inventory. Perhaps, in desperate times, it could also be used as a melee weapon. Edited January 2, 2013 by Very Ape
