Better Maps

Recommended Posts

I've found that the maps in DayZ and ARMA in general is quite unsatisfactory and is quite hard to locate friends and places on it. Maybe it can be a findable thing, better maps, or you could have the ability fto start off with a blank map and as you move if you activate it/examine(or whatever) it will make a drawn map of what you've already been to but when you die you need to make aa new map. I know it's not our choice what map it is because it's just a mod right now but please don't follow in the uncomfortably footsteps of B.I.

Or, just remove it all together.

And then everyone will have to learn to read the stars.

I became acclimated to not having a map early on has made me a better player in the long run maps should not be your primary source to finding your way around. Start with land marks and advance your skill set, before you know it hoofing from three valleys to NWAF and such becomes second nature. Not a fan of maps that spawn on you or fill in as you discover areas to much like a random game not enough like a survival mod.

It's a survival/simulator. Having a map at start would ruin the experience and it isn't hard to locate yourself. Sure there's a learning curve but overall it fits well with the game. Totally disagree with this idea, the map is fine as it is right now and I hope it will stay like that in the SA.

Pardon me if I made some mistakes, english is not my main language.

Edit: I'm probably rude right now probably because you only have 2 posts and that means you are new to the game. I assume that you didn't even try to learn and want everything easy like in those COD games. So I apologize for my attitude towards you and I hope you understand why I don't like your idea. I consider DayZ to be for the hardcore player and I don't want it to change.

You're just unfamiliar with ArmA.. You will get used to it.. then you can nav chernarus without a map at all. It's almost hard not to know where you are after that point..

Like these guys said, part of the experience is learning about your surroundings.

There is nothing wrong with the maps, As you have only 2 post's can I assume you are new to this type of game?

You will treasure the moments when finding a map on a new in game map. they do after a while become second nature.

Some have commented (Inc myself) for a Minecraft map for the SA, one which you only uncover ground by actually travelling it, or by taking it from a fallen player.

Some people want to magically see around corners and over walls , no reason people shouldn't have better maps if they want .

It's a "find your own server with it" scenario , right ?

No, learning your surroundings is half the fun in the first days of DayZ. Admittedly, i nowadays use my second monitor and just have a map with all loot points on that screen. One, because i simply can't memorize every little nook and cranny and second, because my friends need to be guided around all the time and i can't navigate without being at their specific location so i tell them where to go by looking at my second screen.

So either you learn the map bit by bit (i would encourage you to do that) or you go to google and search for Dayz map and voila, all your problems are solved and you won't have to look for gear ever again aside from actually going to the spots and picking it up as it spawns.
