Wouldn't a 'shoutbox' be a good idea for the site? well a good one ofcourse, not the old ugly ones.

It would be an absolute nightmare. it would just be filled with random trolling and nothing of use. Shoutboxes are great on small forum's but when you have hundreds online at once they just turn into spamboxes.

Well, you could do that only +50 post users could use it. And a message limit of 5 minutes until somebody else said something. I had it on a forum. Max users ever online at the same moment was aprox. 600+/-

And who fancies moderating all of the abuse and trolling that would inevitably be posted? Not me. The fact is it would never work. We've discussed it before and that was the decision I'm afraid. Like I said, i really like shoutboxes on small community forums, but here it just wouldn't work.

^ what fraggle said. The forum is good enough for communicating and you can follow the post to know when someone add something so a shoutbox is not needed.

The only change needed on the forum is to link the "Create new topic" button to the "search" page.
