New to updating please help

When i go to update the file to 1.7.1 i get an java IOexception error and its says to force update i then do so and get the same error? do i have to reinstall game or does anyone know a fix for this.

EDIT: i do have the new updater as well as the beta patch :/ don't want to reinstall the game but i guess i'll have to.

Looks like the download servers are just overloaded, select a different mirror from the drop down list.

yeah look mate thanks for trying but i am not using combined forces so that way doesn't work for me! thank you anyways reinstalling it seemed to work just fine and only took 30mins
