red62 9 Posted June 17, 2012 switch to an inverted server. about 1/2 of them are inverted, one should be easy to find.the only people that actually play on nighttime are NVG users, right?
mrperson666 0 Posted June 17, 2012 Unfortunately they're all full, since everyone already had that exact idea.
esaciar 1 Posted June 17, 2012 I love playing at night.I live for that first ray of sunlight creeping over the horizon...Makes me feel cathartic.
deepfried 95 Posted June 17, 2012 switch to an inverted server. about 1/2 of them are inverted' date=' one should be easy to find.the only people that actually play on nighttime are NVG users, right?[/quote']I play night time and I don't have nvg. night time is the best looting time: less chance of zombies spotting you, less players to shoot you, more loot as there are fewer people on the server = win.I admit though sometimes it can be too dark. Hostile (DayZ) 0 Posted June 17, 2012 Playing at nighttime servers is so easy to gear up and avoid zombies.Their LoS is way shorter, they are also almost deaf!Imagine, whole looting zones just for you!
thealgerian 2 Posted June 17, 2012 I actually play a bit when the night falls. Then, when I'm tired of it or I can't go through with it, I find a place to sleep, disconnect, find a daytime server and pretend I slept. :p
aposky 20 Posted June 17, 2012 (...)the only people that actually play on nighttime are NVG users' date=' right?[/quote']Not true. When I play with friends, we use flashlights/torches to light up places (2 guys with torches, one searching/looting). If I play alone I use flashlight and chemlights to light up area, and flares to distract zombies.Since most players don't know how to use those and leave servers we don't have problems with random strangers that shoot on sight. Also zombies are less effective in dark, which makes a night easy mode ;)
esaciar 1 Posted June 17, 2012 We should set up looting zones with achievements and level up that gives you ammo! And some lights that come out your eyes but that the zeds can't see, and...Sorry.Went a bit anti sandbox there...
wolfgang784 13 Posted June 17, 2012 We love to hit up the NW airfield at night. Most players that have been there enough pretty much have the area memorized, so we find our way to the first hangar at either end and prone our way up, using a g17 or remmington flashlight to check the actual loot in each hangar quickly before turning the light back off and continuing in the pitch darkness. Virfortis 111 Posted June 17, 2012 I hope flashlights will become a more used tool. Right now the slight issue with the game is that you either have full illumination, or pitch black dark with nothing in-between. This really doesn't do more than cater to the people with NVGs, which have enough favors from the gods of Chernarus anyways. Now, I'm no developer, but I know light and I know that there's more to light than black and white. I'm not sure what's going on, as what made nighttime so dark was an ArmA2 fix, not a DayZ fix, but I'm sure we'll be seeing basic details at night on a full moon. esaciar 1 Posted June 17, 2012 It's an existing Arma dynamic, reading from others who appear knowledge regarding that facet of gameplay.Day Z isn't, truly, responsible for it...

twotoes 11 Posted June 17, 2012 gotta say i don't think night's all that realistic - when you in an area with zero light polution the moon lights everything up with an odd silvery glimmer - very hard to define objects over distance because the light's weak and diffuse, but it's not pitch black.
