I can't pick up hatchets and use them.

Let me clarify a little, I see a hatchet on the ground somewhere, I go near it. I seet green text saying "Hatchet", I press Enter, I see the option "Take Hatchet". When I press the button mapped to selecting an option from a list (primary mouse since I have the controls defaulted), the text box closes. I've tried different distances from the item and I have made sure there was room for it in both the primary slot and the inventory by tossing items. I'm fairly certain it's a glitch or some misunderstanding on my part, so I'm posting here so people who know the inventory system better than I do can help.

Once it goes into your inventory it's classed as a tool and goes into your toolbelt.

You must remove it fromt he toolbelt by right-clicking on it to use it as a weapon.

To pick it up you just pick it up like any other item, there should be no problem.

I recommend using only middle mouse button for actions and primary only for shooting ;)

Okay, I made room again and got a hatchet. I wasn't aware that it started out in the toolbelt, thanks! I'm assuming this post will lock automatically now that it no longer serves a purpose communication-wise.
