Badass_Forever 0 Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) Hi Everyone,Just wanted to start off buy saying i'm in love with this game. I've been hooked since I started watching FRANKIEonPCin1080p's Dayz videos, He must have 20+ videos, each about an hour long, I watch them like they are a edgy series that I never want to end.I think what has gotten me hooked on these videos is the fact they remind me of a childhood game I used to play when I was 14yrs old, Operation Flashpoint: Resistance. Not to many people know this game, it wasn't all that popular but I can tell you me and my clan took that game by storm, we not only won every match and event that was offered for all the different host, but totally demanded the other teams with few exceptions. I really loved the open world, go anywhere and true teamwork tactics the game offered, kind of like what I have seen from DayZ.There has been a hole missing from the gaming life that i would like to fill with the DayZ mod and SA when it is released. My Question to the member here is, how would you rate your Experiences with the game, steam has ArmA on sale right now and I happened to get a gift card for Christmas that normally I would have never used.I would like to know if the game has that true teamwork feeling to it, and do you find that players want to play along side you? or just shoot you in the face? I really enjoy the group/clan feeling of games like this. If i buy this game are there any clans you would recommend to fill my need for teamwork?Lastly, I keep reading about FPS issues in the game,I'm running a,i7 - 950 3.0612GB RamSSD6870HD ATIIs that enough? disorder 344 Posted December 27, 2012 seems more than enough, what power supply? the psu is your most important bit actually (not a lot of people know that, they cheap out on it)
Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) I loved OFP too and the Arma series is actually a continuation of that game which explains why you like the look of it so much. Many of the players here are old skool OFP players who then went on to play Arma. There's a lot of advantages to playing in a team and the SA will focus even more on making group play more beneficial. I won't recommend you any clans but we have a clan recruitment section on the site so you can browse through that, or just take your chances and see who you meet in-game.BTW, your set-up is fine and you won't have any issues. disorder 344 Posted December 27, 2012 Arma is actually an updated version of the same engine as OFP which was made by Codemasers in Bohemia's engine and the military version vbs2 After that Bohemia kept their engine but had to change the name. Codemasters kept the Flashpoint name, but had to remake the engine (but their game wasn't as good apparently)or something like that.
Dr Octagon 16 Posted December 27, 2012 like any multiplayer game you have many different people with many different ideas on what they are playing (you can occasionally meet people you have never seen before and team up with them , or be shot in the face whilst unarmed).this is the beauty of dayz.it is truly emergent gameplay and the experience you have is what you make of it.i am not a clan member , but i do play with people i know IRL that i have recruited to the game (one before i had a p.c. myself just based on gameplay vids).i strongly encourage you to play this game , as it is amazing.you may have to work a little bit to create the gameplay experience you crave , but your efforts will be rewarded - i promise.i have been playing video games for almost 30 years and this is what i used to imagine games could be like.trust me , i'm a doctor -Dr Octagon. pr3llox 63 Posted December 27, 2012 this game is the best game i have ever played. You can run solo or u can team up in huge clans if u want too.I have stuck with it since June, havent played so much lately tough (just waiting for the standalone to come out)Too prove that this is an awesome game I can say that i got stuttering problems which means that every 5 or 4 sec my screen freezes but the game is so awesome that i still play even tough i havent found any fix for it! Badass_Forever 0 Posted December 27, 2012 seems more than enough, what power supply? the psu is your most important bit actually (not a lot of people know that, they cheap out on it)Yes, that I did know, its the backbone to a good system. 750W Corsair, i'm going to look around for another 6870 tho, triple 24's might be a little hard while gaming.Arma is actually an updated version of the same engine as OFP which was made by Codemasers in Bohemia's engine and the military version vbs2 After that Bohemia kept their engine but had to change the name. Codemasters kept the Flashpoint name, but had to remake the engine (but their game wasn't as good apparently)or something like that.Yes, This was the reason I stopped playing and moved on to different games. One of the guys in the clan got a copy of the new OFP, he did almost all of the "skins" for them, he sent me a copy and it was nothing like the original. I was told after some time that ArmA 2 was the new OFP but by that time i had taken a break and lost interest.I loved OFP too and the Arma series is actually a continuation of that game which explains why you like the look of it so much. Many of the players here are old skool OFP players who then went on to play Arma. There's a lot of advantages to playing in a team and the SA will focus even more on making group play more beneficial. Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) Well you came back at a good time. The DayZ is being released fairly soon and Arma 3 is coming out later this year, so far it's looking impressive: Edited December 27, 2012 by Fraggle
MattGL 18 Posted December 27, 2012 If you're looking for team based play without the zombies, try wasteland. YouTube some videos of it, sounds like exactly what you are looking for.It comes with operation arrowhead I believe, so you don't even need to download or install anything extra like you do with dayz.
