Extremely choppy/laggy on high population servers

Recommended Posts

So I know this might belong in the 'Can I run it' thread but I feel like this is more than just a hardware problem. I'm using DayZ Commander with the most updated version of Arma II(99515) and DayZ(1.7.4.4). Here are my hardware specs:

  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 450(850MHz)
  • RAM: 2x2 RAM
  • Processor: Intel i7 core CPU(860 @ 2.80GHz)
  • Motherboard: Asus P7P55 LX
  • HDD: 1000tb

And my internet connection details:

So when I log in it's usually extremely choppy and laggy (2FPS and 200ms ping), but usually just on servers with a lot of people online. Being in towns with zombies doesn't help much either. It's better in the woods. Help would be much appreciated, as I said I'd post this in the hardware thread but I don't think that's what the problem is. Sorry if this is spam n.n

Thank you c:

Well, then it's just the server. Find a good private hive, preferably from here: http://dayzmod.com/f...server-listing/ that runs good and you'll be set. It just happens with some servers and there's not many ways to avoid other than switching servers.

Okay, thanks. Why is private hive better? I prefer normal hive because I can play my character on multiple servers

If it's choppy with a lot of people, then yeah, it's the internet connection to the server. Some people like private hives because usually there is better control over the hacker situation and because things are usually tweaked to fix or add. Like 150 vehicles spawn. Or you can't fall through walls. That sort of thing. But I'm with you, public hives to play multiple servers. Try different servers. If it's still choppy, then I'd look at your internet connection.

Constant admin protection mainly. Aka, no hackers. Also, if you found a vehicle on a public hive you'd have to stay on the same server.

Private hives also have custom settings and areas. Many servers have completely new towns, and some even have trading posts. Many have custom loot tables, meaning new guns. There's one private I know of that has over 1,400 vehicles on it at all times! (here's the server ip if you wanna play on it: 198.136.25.138:2372).
