My First Murder & Bandit Kill

My first week in DayZ has been fantastic and what happened 2 nights ago really encompasses why I love this game.

So to set the scene, I'm a noob and scratching around Cherno looking for supplies, the previous day had left me hungry, thirsty and injured needing blood but all worth it for my scavenged prize, an assault rifle! I found some food and drink and another player to aid me getting food. We were wandering from the south central area roughly northward, searching without really knowing the area.

Then the action, in the garden of a house suddenly several snaps which were instantly recognisable to both of us as bullets whizzing by. We both ran to a wall in the direction of the fire. The weapon was barely audible, this bandit was quite far away.

I talk to my unarmed friend and we agree to move quickly with him leading. The time between me meeting him and the gunfire did make me believe he could be an accomplice to the bandit however I decided to trust him. We made short progress west but I didn't like the route he was taking. I moved north slightly using the abundant cover available.

I thought that there were only 2 outcomes, the bandit would approach or stay in his hiding hole. Unfortunately for my fellow survivor I had the former situation in my mind. I turned and saw a player run round the corner, I fired. My fellow was dead on the floor... Oops.

So there was no point looking for blood now, I used the 3rd person to look where I could've been shot from and saw an extremely high building with letters on the top.- that's where I'd be!

I moved east finding plenty of cover around the back of this building, 2 further survivors were slain in this time and the sound of his rifle was confirming my previous assumption.

I found ladders that lead up this building, I think there were 3 sets with platforms between each set. By the second I heard him fire and the crack of bullets whizzing by, I thought I was under fire. I hit the deck and another burst rung out. Then I saw it, another survivor had been killed. I was safe. I climbed the last ladder and there he was, prone, over looking the city and most importantly unaware of his impending doom.

I did not hesitate, aimed and fired 3 - 4 rounds into his head/chest.

He was dead and I looted him of his nice automatic sniper rifle with NV and heat sensor, this makes killing very easy! He had a lot of useful gear which I stripped. I left as quickly as I could.

Sorry for my vague descriptions but this was the most exhilarating experience, from under fire to counter attack and slaying my would be murderer.

I love this game.

Not sure of the weapon names yet, but, it does make becoming a bandit seem quite tempting!
