You are listening to the wrong people Rocket.

This is a survival mod ' date=' it is supposed to replicate a infected scenario where the "zombies" are infected with a kind of 28 days style rage.

As it stands the zombies movements are perfect

The starting gear creates the kind of desperation you would expect. Perfect.

Lack of food/resources to emulate looting after "event". Perfect.

The difficulty is exactly how i would expet survival to be , you people are too used to games handing you everything on a plate you have forgotten what a challenge was.

Ideally, it should be even harder. Military weapons and nvg's should be extremely rare if not non-existent. There should be stamina issues when running, especially with more weight. Nobody should have magical crosshairs or nametags.

I wouldn't mind reverting the equipment... But instead just give one clip to starting players, in case of emergancy situation. It makes more sense to me... Most people have guns these days. But some changes have kind of effected the way I play and make me a tad sad but, most of the time its AWESOME! :D

That and dogs/bears/wolves in the woods. With more of them appearing in the middle of the night. :)

Imagine if the cows/sheep/chickens were ditched and you had to hunt wild bears and wolves for food. :)

Some of the comments on here make me sick. Some people just dont use the brain they were born with. The game is in Alpha state, every change that is implemented in the latest patch is a test, to see how it works and gage people's reactions. Its not the final version of the game, far from it, so for all you people who moan, just chill the f*ck out, your playing a FREE mod, you didn't pay for it.

What I am trying to do' date=' is find the recipe for a fix that [b']I am happy with. That means a considerable amount of experimentation and things will probably get worse before they get better.

No what you're doing is tossing in suggestions by people who are completely misdiagnosing the problem.

"Oh removing makarovs will improve early gameplay says the PvE players? That's easy I can do that!" Newbies get spawn camped, players just start running out in the open till they stumble into a life worth keeping, zombie trains galore b/c who cares if everyone knows where you are you have nothing.

"Oh PvE players think CZ550's are killing them too much? I can nerf CZ550 spawns!" Except groups used winchester + CZ550 and put up a decent fight against groups armed with military gear.

You're balancing the game based on complaints by bad players who want to play zombie co-op in the spawn area. Period.

> How is it possible that this game is better than any professionally developed game to be released in 2012?

>Goddamn.

By gamers for gamers? Its not a product of bazillion board meetings and marketing studies.

FPS + sandbox. Many people haven't tried sandbox PvP until now. It's a shocker I know. It has nothing to do with by gamers for gamers' date=' experimentation, or anything like that. It is a sandbox game, which inherently has dynamic gameplay. Do you honestly think you tweaking zombies, removing pistols, bandit skins, etc, is what got 100's of thousands of people playing? It was zombies and sandbox. That's it. And there are actually a few zombie sandbox games in the pipeline from before DayZ even came out. One already used kickstarter for cash.

Stop trying to fix what isn't broken, and add the shit that needs to be added so your game beats them to market. That's it. You're wasting your time with changes like zombie LoS, no pistols on spawn, nixing CZ550's, removing bandit skins, adding heartbeats, and everything else that tries to pander to a playstyle that simply wants PvE safe zones in a sandbox game. You can either add NPC cities/guards or not. That's literally what it comes down to. EVE-style security isn't a bad thing, just make up your mind, quit trying to micro-patch to appease various playstyles with every patch, or another game will go retail and you will be left with 5 players testing your game (see below)

I don't give a fuck if, during that process, only five people play it. I don't care if you're not having fun now, cause I certainly aren't, and the build isn't as intended. What I care about is the end result, we just need to bare through this until the hotfix gets the build stable.

Yea I'm sure BIS would still keep you full-time on DayZ and even go ahead a stand-alone DayZ if only 5 people are left.

your playing a FREE mod' date=' you didn't pay for it.

[/quote']

blah blah blah it's free, that's why BIS is putting rocket on it full-time and fixing bugs in an end-of-life product. No they couldn't possibly think people shelled out money for DayZ or anything. Yea, people paid money for the bugfest that is ArmA2.

@OP

We need a game that listens only to the HC crowd, there's no other game/mod that does that...

... you could go play Arma-II? I hear it's pretty hard-core PvP but not so much about zombies. Oh, yeah, you might fight people with equal gear and organisation. Never mind then.

What ever made you think this game wasn't also hard-core PvP?

Have you ever clicked on the "What is DayZ" link on the front page, that hasn't changed in 8+ weeks? PvP is right there. One of your 3 simple goals includes PvP. It's even #2 on the list, one spot above "survive."

The forums are a fraction of your player base. Mostly' date=' those that are invested in it.

Basing a game change like this on a hand full of Hardcore merit badge seekers was your first mistake.

Your second mistake was listening to those complain about being killed on the beach.

The third mistake was listening to who ever told you it was OK to patch on a Saturday.

You have taken a game that was fun, challenging, and rewarding, and made it for the small few who would like the game to shock balls on death.

Seriously, game was quite enjoyable before, now, its just an exercise in frustration with no fun to be had. I was really looking forward to this patch too, so was my group. Now we have no will to log in.

Its the wrong direction.

My suggestion to you, fix the zombie arggo range, and the loot spawns, and revert the starting equipment. Then we can all have fun again getting eaten and shot. Then you can get back work on features and systems that actually add value to the experience.

Sounds like we got a mad bandit here, keep doing what you're doing Rocket.
