Standalone/arma1

Hi im new to dayz, I am going to get the mod but I have read that there is a standalone version? if not can anyone tell me when it is comming out as I am on summer break and would love to play. If not i know i have to buy arma 2 and an expansion though im not sure which one?

Any help/info is very much appreciated!

The standalone should be out within the next month or two; it is taking longer than initially expected. To play DayZ now, you should pick up the Arma2 Combined Operations bundle which is on sale on Steam for $17.99 iirc. Then download DayZ Commander, which will help you download and install DayZ itself and get you playing easily. DayZ Commander links can be found in the general discussion section.
