Planning to make my first PC

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Planning to build a PC in the next couple of months that will get me playing DayZ to a decent quality. Also would like to be able to play Battlefield 3 but more interested in Day Z.

I am a university student in my final year so money is tight. Would love to be getting between 30-40 fps.

Could any of you awesome tech people advise me on the cheapest build possible to get the game running to a nice standard. I can use my PC as a monitor so that isn't needed. Would like to have around 6-8 gb ram as a minimum.

Advice please. :D

This is the most important thing I can tell you. ensure the motherboard you are buying is a 3.0 PCI-E 16x slot. so if you are unable to spend top dollar for a high end video card, down the road in a year or two your PC will be capable of upgrading by replacing just the video card. You can get some fairly good pricing on 2.0 video cards that still have some oomph.

http://www.newegg.com/ is a great place for parts

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115090 $129 for a 3.1 GHZ dualcore, and last I checked not many games really take advantage of having multiple cores. ALSO its the same socket LGA 1155 as the new IVY core processors from intel so again, down the road you could upgrade it.
