Looking to upgrade my processor/need help

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Well.. like the subject says i'm looking to upgrade my processor and since arma is a processor intensive game i thought a lot of you guys would have some knowledge about this. so the thing is , i have an AM2 socket , i was wondering if i can use an AM3 processor on my board, i heard this is perfectly possible with a BIOS update , though i am not quite sure how to do this...

if anyone could help i would be really grateful!!!

Oh yeah , if an AM3 processor would actually work.. you can always recommend me one , my price range is around: 120 Euros ,,,,,,, 160 dollars

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and help out!!!!

Ragna

Tell me the rest of your specs first, just to be sure that it's the processor you need.

Ok here they are

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3600+ 2.01Ghz (runs at 2.30Ghz)

Graphics: Ati Radeon Sapphire ultimate HD 5670 1GB

Ram: Black Dragon 2x2Gig + 1 Gig stock Ram (5 Gig Ram Total)

That should be the most important stuff , if you need anything else , tell me ;)

Thanks Ragna

I can tell for a fact that your system needs work. For that, I'm gonna turn it over to the can I run it thread. Post your specs (all of them) int the can I run it thread, because the guys over there know what they're talking about better than I do. I would help, but there are some things that confuse me and I wanna be sure I don't steer you in the wrong direction.

And be sure to add your motherboard. Hard to recommend a CPU if the mainboard is unknown. :P (I'm using an AM3 and have a choice of shelling-out a couple hundred for a newer AM3+ board&CPU or spend about $100 and get a 6core AM3)
