MMO is(was) a game genre where hundreds or thousands of player play on AT the same time ON the same server like wow or Eve online. Massively is clearly defined as number of players not the size of the game world.These days any game wtih multiplayer calls itself that. For heaven's sake it just boils my blood when people misinterpret DayZ the 'mod' for ArmA II, as of the moment, is a game.But if you're wondering what category DayZ is, it's a MMORPG, Fantasy genre because it allows us to cast magic spells and tickle each other's nipples with our magic wands.
