Leniaal 0 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) Hello!I absolutely love DayZ, I've been playing it for about 5-7 hours. Yet everytime I encounter a hostile player, I have no chance of winning a 1 on 1 fight. Even getting Zombies down is a real challenge for me. My FPS sticks to a steady 11-13 FPS, being used to 40-60 FPS, this makes aiming even harder for me. I know DayZ is heavy on the hardware, and I understand why, but I cannot imagine that my hardware cannot take this game to at least 30 FPS on lower settings. My Hardware:CPU: Intel Core i7 2670QM 2.2GHzGPU: nVidia GeForce GT630M 2 GBMemory: 8GBHDD: 750GB(Free: 260GB)OS: Windows 7Things I've tried to fix:Editing the CFG filePut the game on RamDiskAdding the following line to launch parameters:-nosplash -skipIntro -noPause -CpuCount=4 -maxmem=8192 -maxvram=2048 -exThreads=7Followed guides on setting the graphics so it will get you max FPSTried Razer game boosterAll of this with NO result worth mentioning, or well, I think when I put my resolution to the lowest I got high FPS. Of course the game got so blurry, I felt that I needed glasses.Does somebody have any more possible solutions or suggestions?Any help is very much appreciated! Sula 1205 Posted December 12, 2012 This does happen. Have a look in your video settings and turn down all Advanced settings to minimum and then gradually work your way back up to what works for you. That's what I did. Good luck, Leniaal.
RoKa89ARG 6 Posted December 12, 2012 is this always in the same server ? try different serversyou forgot to mention the motherboard, i hope you dont have a cheap one. and your power source ? you updated drivers for your GPU ?if thats ok, there must be something wrong in your settings, try fixing game cache in steam options. if you have good internet connection try deleting everything and downloading it again, then run arma 2 and see if it keeps lagging. then try with op arrowhead, and then use dayzcommander

bigdogsco 143 Posted December 12, 2012 Turning off headbob and turning off post processing does the trick for me. Everything else is maxed and my setup is similar to yours.

I'm on a laptop ASUS N53S, which really runs all games just fine.

Grodenn 53 Posted December 12, 2012 Try not to run everything on the lowest setting if Im not misstaken this forces all calculations on to the CPU which means your CPU needs to work really hard while the GPU does nothing. So putting some settings a bit higher will actually give you better fps. I can't remember which settings you should change I recently got my self a new computer so don't have that issue anymore :).
pEar (DayZ) 26 Posted December 12, 2012 Please take a screenshot of your current video settings (including advanced) and I can see if I cant help you out a little bit.

Leniaal 0 Posted December 12, 2012 My normal resolution is 1920x1080, I just changed it so i got a bit better FPS.. about 26 now, even lower in cities and it freezes every 10+- seconds. So not ideal :(
bigdogsco 143 Posted December 12, 2012 I'm assuming from your specs your running a laptop? How does it handle heat? I've had problems with my laptop running games cos the GPU draws so much power running at max constantly that it overheats (causes artifacts and hangs) and it also starves other components of power (more hangs). Can your nvidia control panel reduce your GPU usage a little bit to see if that helps your problem?Grodenn is correct in that if you don't load your GPU enough then it will pass load to CPU. Be careful you don't detune too much.
Leniaal 0 Posted December 12, 2012 Yea I've tried many different settings, this is the best I've gotten so far.. I don't think my laptop has problems with heat, my previous one did.. So I know what it's like ;p Really a bummer, I feel like I have problems with all games I like lol. I'll try adjusting the usage but I don't think it will change.Does anybody have any other suggestions/tutorials on how to solve this problem?
AIRCAV 62 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) Try blowing the dust out of your laptop with either canned air, or a compressor. If your fans and vents are clogged, it can really impact performance.I had a 3x to 4x improvement in fps on my old machine, after cleaning out the dust bunnies.Try running gpuz and check your mobo / gpu temps too.AC Edited December 12, 2012 by AIRCAV
Leniaal 0 Posted December 12, 2012 But it's just this game. I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware related problem.
AIRCAV 62 Posted December 13, 2012 Ok, back to basics then. I'll openly state that I've got no idea, just making suggestions that I hope might help.Do you share your internet connection with anyone else (roommates / family?). If someone is streaming, or downloading, that will have high impact. Are all / any of the other games you're thinking about for performance comparison online, or singleplayer?I've read, but cannot confirm, that the Arma engine is very CPU intensive; do you run antivirus / malware detection at the same time you play? Can you post your windows experience index figures please? Someone here might be able to compare yours to theirs for a similar system, and point out an issue. How does performance in Arma 2 compare? Can you run the testbench scenes, and post results?Hope this helps,AC
