stackable items

Recommended Posts

No, I believe that as of now you already take probably unrealisticaly too many items with you.

In my opinion the number of inventory slots shall be lowered rather than increased. Just my opinion.

Loot V's Weight

Take weight into account and you wont be carrying 2 primary weapons around, add adverse weather effects and you will want to carry heavier clothing adding to your overall weight.

In game it's easy to carry lots of stuff, but in a real life scenario the weight of what you carry will affect you on ways you can't replicate in game. Certainly non of this continuing running around and being able to target contacts straight away!

The only items that should be stackable is medication and Bolts / Arrows.

"Take weight into account and you wont be carrying 2 primary weapons around"

Its DayZ not WarZ

- This feature might be "unrealistic" but so is a Zombie apoc, meanwhile you will never be able to repair a m-cycle/Car/Truck/heli if youre using "Weight" since an engine block or a main rotor ass, is a bit heavier then what a major hiking backpack can carry,

Two primary weapons, That's the only way to go, you need something laud to scare off bambis, but you also need something silent, to remove thoes zombies trying to bite your ass :)

Where did that come from?

I still think encumbrance is the way to go... forget slots, stacking etc (at least for 'storage'). Have every item have a weight and a size attached to it. A backpack has its dimensions, if all the items you wanna put in it will fit, then so be it. e.g. you could put some 50+ 1911 mags into a large ALICE pack, however you could never put a fully assembled AS50 into one. Not sure how to 'balance' vehicle parts into the mix... a windscreen is pretty big after all (if not all that heavy), and its imposable to actually run with an engine block (let alone even pick it up)... but then again, a car tire to fix an old bike wheel? lol.

Did you even read what you just replied to. No one mentioned realism or WarZ and suggestion threads are always better if we can keep it that way.

Don't even start with "Realism". We all know that a zombie apocalypse is unrealistic, but that doesn't mean the things in it are unrealistic.

We're supposed to assume that the apocalypse is a real thing, so therefore it is realistic. There was a huge thread about realism, and one of the points in it was, "most people here don't even know what 'realism' is." Which is true, almost all of the community here doesn't even know what shooting a gun, combat, or being scratched, punched, and bitten by a crazed human that doesn't care about his own body, so can you really talk about what's realistic.

But to the main idea, I think the only stackable items should be crossbow bolts, which should be in a quiver, and maps. Maybe bandages and morphine, since they're so small and light.

And pancakes.

And muffins, bloody Derpy Hooves and those delicious tasting muffins. I damn you sir, I never liked them till a few month back, now Asda keeps running out.

@Minamo, I never mentioned That crap game, I did read a while back about rocket and the possible introduction to weight limits, if that goes down, 2 primaries will be the least of your worries. This brought about the theory of carrying only what you need and not extra heavy stuff you don't. This would offer balance to your game play from a realistic point. You wouldn't be able to carry a lot of military grade stuff and ammo, quite heavy and encumbering. And lets not go down the realism route, that thread had opinions and not enough facts. A team / Clan would carry what was needed for the team, with a weight limit that need would be spread out between the players for maximum effect.

For vehicle parts you could repair one, most come almost workable as it is bar a few damaged parts, you could use it as a mule to carry other stuff you collect, in order to stow it till you get back to your base. Even heavy items like engine blocks could only be taken via the help of another player or vehicle. I use a vehicle and use it to carry stuff, primarily for vehicle parts as they use up more slots than most other items (Never hurts to have spares)

If there is an insistence of 2 primary weapons then a timed event should be introduced when switching between weapons in your pack. A Big 50 cal rifle in a bag will need assembly (as mentioned before) and disassembly before use (Most people couldn't carry 1 let alone another weapon) most weapons don't fit into a large pack without protrusions or parts sticking out. so if you insist on carrying a secondary weapon in a bag, break it down?

As it is DayZ is a game, and i can understand this. As a game it has to have attainable goals and playability without becoming too restrictive or players would not play it. The simple fact is DayZ is Based on a simulator, now I understand simulators simulate, They are not simulating all you can carry as all these items would have an impact on your movement.

I can agree to disagree! :P

If you can only stack a certain amount of items before it becomes another inventory slot, then sure.

Well you can't just stack beans in your backpack and automatically make more space in real life. It doesn't work that way.
