New to the game and having a problem, can you help?

Hello everyone,

As the title says, I'm new. I was lurking online for a while but I couldn't hold off for the standalone version. I picked up the Arma2 bundle off Steam and I also downloaded the Play withSix launcher.

I have been able to play DayZ, so I know my system can run it, but here is my problem...

Each time I try to log into a server, the game loads up and my character is instantly dead on the ground with a hourglass that never moves. The bottom corner shows that I am in Elektro each time, but nothing responds. I have to alt tab back into the Play withSix launcher and use the "close game" option. Then I pick a new server and try again.

This will happen several times in a row, and either I give up or after several attempts I am finally logged in without the insta-death and I'm able to play.

This can't be normal, can it?. Is it just the random servers I am joining and bad luck?

Any info would be appreciated, I just want to be able to play this game without going thru 20-30 minutes of loading attempts.

This happened to me too. I just waited it out, although it did take a while. If you could give me a description of your surroundings, or perhaps pinpoint your body on the map, I can come and administer Adrenaline for you.

Alternatively, try playing on a Private hive, which has separate character data.

Are you always in the same location?

Something may have glitched up when you first started up for your first time. Remember, your character's status is saved across almost every Dayz server there is. If your character doesn't die, you'll be in the same situation as you last left, UNLESS you join a "private hive." These keep information on their own.

Do you use Dayz commander?

It's a bug, I assume it's on your public hive character and that's why you see it on multiple servers, your best option is to get someone to join your server and kill you, since you're in Electro it shouldn't be too hard to find you.

Yeah, unfortunately it can happen to some people. It's just a bug but there is no real fix on your end than waiting for it to finally timeout, death, or the chance of someone being nice enough to epi you. I can certainly go and help you, as can rage up there, or you can go the teamspeak ts.dayzmedics.com and find an available medic to wake you up.
