Chaz0r 0 Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) Hey guys, because i wasn't able to run DayZ, i was playing WarZ instead. Now I have a new computer, I can run DayZ really good and wanted to give the mod version a try so I'm prepared for the standalone version and I have just some questions about the game.First: Where can i exactly find items? In WarZ I had to enter buildings, go arround buildungs or look into cars.In DayZ I entered some buildings and found some items. But most buildings are not walkable. So where can i find items beside buildings? I never found something near a car wrack or beside a house.Second: After some hours of gameplay I hade a really crappy situation. I was in a small village and a Zombie broke my legg. So I looked into a wiki, found that i need morphine and read, that i can find it anywhere, but mostly in hospitals. Great! I have no idea where hospitals are, I have no map and after hours of crawling arround, i noticed that I don't have enough luck to find morphine. So what should I do in this situation?Third: Is it just my computer, or doesn't feel the game really smooth in first person view? In third person everything is fine!Fourth: How can i throw these small lights/glow sticks? Can I distract zombies with them? Thanks for the upcoming answeres :)Edit: and fifth: Is there already a price range what the standalone vaguely will cost? sarsipius 6 Posted December 5, 2012 Your looking in the right places for items, anywhere undercover is where things spawn, in buildings, sheds, barns, even doorways can some times have drops. You will learn what type of loot drops at which type of location.Sucks to have a broken leg and no morphine, its good to get to a hospital, in the main citys, to get some meds before heading out. If your still broken and know where you are, I'll come over and heal you, tend to carry all the meds on me.
Bludy 324 Posted December 5, 2012 (edited) ok, look at dayzdb.com there is an awesome map about loot and stuff. then yes, because it's a mod for now you cannot enter a lot of building..things will change with standalone and if you give a try to the other maps(try dayzcommander to run your game, because it's a really intuitive and good program) in warz you don't have those medical problems because you can run and fix and fire at the same time..here there is a different rhythm..you'll need some attempt and some effort to get rid of some of the mechanics of the game and i suggest you to try to play some arma2 as well as play more, don't be afraid to die and to try what style works for you better. you can distract zombies with smoke grenades, but the animation sucks so be sure to not throw them while you have aggro and you are outside a building where zombies can run so fast that you'll be dead before completing the throw. also road flares distract them a bit..good luck and welcome to the real shitp.s. if you have broken bones the respawn button is enabled and you can die and have a fresh start on the coast Edited December 5, 2012 by Bludy
rooneye 135 Posted December 5, 2012 You can throw the flares/lights by pressing F until you see that you have selected one in the top right of the screen and then left click to throw. And the Stand Alone will be quite cheap, $5-$15 I think. And yeah I have noticed that frame rate sometimes drops a little with different view, but only on some servers for some strange reason.
