mikemhz 15 Posted December 1, 2012 Snakes, spiders, insects, rabid mammals... Discuss! Some ideas to begin with:Bee hives. Could be in a tree, could be totally infesting a house. Better run if the hive swarms!Mosquitoes. Someone mentioned this in rocket's disease thread and started this whole train of thought. Make them big, so we can see them and swat at them.Your pet dog could get rabies, or a badger in the woods, e.t.c. Wild dogs/cats generally - surely the huge population of common household pets will also be surviving on some level. In a zombie apocalypse, if you get bit by a venomous snake or spider. You gonna die!
Illuzion 0 Posted December 1, 2012 It would be fun but boy would that be a b*tch to deal with haha. The reason I'm all for this is it would make for constant tension. The woods is currently a relatively safe place, however this would take the safety from there. Completely agree.
zimsabre 10 Posted December 1, 2012 I'm getting more scared by the day of the new environment the standalone will have.. Zeds and players seem to be the least of everyone's worries lol! Anyways on topic I personally don't like snakes or spiders so this will make the game a very scary place.
sonicrainbrony 136 Posted December 1, 2012 Running and/or talking in direct channel should decrease the rate of snake/wild animal encounters then (they don't like noise). Otherwise, sure.

mikemhz 15 Posted December 1, 2012 (edited) Agreed, if zombies are attracted to gunfire. Wildlife should, naturally, also freak out in their own unique way. Maybe just cows could stand around giving zero fucks. Edited December 1, 2012 by mikemhz
BSB Jimmy 360 Posted December 1, 2012 maybe snakes not spiders, they are too small.
mikemhz 15 Posted December 1, 2012 I'm talking big, tarantula-like, stylized spiders... not a black widow in your shoes or under the toilet seat. I mean something you could easily see crawling down a tree trunk or on the wall of a shop... But maybe not so easy to spot in a bush or a shed - just the kind of places you might stumble into unprepared....And then it jumps on your face! Muhaha. Sorry arachnophobes. mikemhz 15 Posted December 2, 2012 (edited) You could collect a hoard of spiders and set them upon some poor bastard using your laser pen. Edited December 2, 2012 by mikemhz
dallas 5195 Posted December 2, 2012 (edited) "His name was black and white cow, it appeared he died from unknown causes..."It would be cool if you could investigate dead wildlife, like real hunters always do and check for signs of disease. New players or very hungry players might forget to check the carcass and roll the dice on getting hold of some bad meat. Maybe something like 10-15% of animals would be sick with something and maybe if you ate it's meat or you ate a spoiled can of food, there'd be a chance you got sick, but also a small chance you get a warning while eating it. 20% of noticing a bad taste and then you could attempt to prevent sickness, before getting the first symptoms.
