DayZ Suggestion - Difficulty Levels

Recommended Posts

There should be a set difficulty so hives can't be able to say Regular and have Third Person disabled.

So i thought this would be a good idea.

Recruit (Easy) - Third Person (On) - Tracers (On) - Nameplates (On) - Cross Hairs (On) - Death Messages (On) - View Distance (Day): 300m - View Distance (Night) : 150m

Regular (Average) - Third Person (On) - Tracers (Off) - Nameplates (Off) - Cross Hairs (On) - Death Messages (On) - View Distance (Day): 500m - View Distance (Night) : 300m

Veteran (Medium) - Third Person (Off) - Tracers (Off) - Nameplates (Off) - Cross Hairs (Off) - Death Messages (On) - View Distance (Day): 800m - View Distance (Night) : 500m

Expert (Hard) - Third Person (Off) - Tracers (Off) - Nameplates (Off) - Cross Hairs (Off) - Death Messages (Off) - View Distance (Day): 1200m (1.2Km) - View Distance (Night) : 800m

With these Settings new players can play, but not be sniped as easy which so it balances out that you might be able to see in Third Person or the Nameplates, but you can't use it with a far distance. Of course you may need to edit it slightly here or there, but i think this would be a good starting point for the difficulty levels. I also think that maybe the zombies spawn number or damage should depend on the difficulty as well.

I could never understand why you would want to play DayZ with nameplates and tracers on. Ruins the whole point of the game.

However I don't have anything against different difficulty types. If your character is locked to the type. So when you were playing on regular and you join an Expert server you would start a new char. the other ones shouldn't get deleted ofc.

If players will be locked to certain styles of server then there will obviously have to be clearly defined settings to prevent things getting over-complicated.

Best bet is to wait and see what difficulty options there are when SA is released, I imagine the setup will be perfectly reasonable.

Nameplates and Tracers should be removed regardless, even though you don't find many servers with tracers, Nameplates don't really work with DayZ. With name plates you can spot vehicles and players, and know what their distance is, making rangefinders completely useless.

I am more for allowing server owners to set difficulty levels that relate to how much food/drink spawns and how much weapons spawn on their servers.I think I read that Rocket said something to this effect but I could of been dreaming.
