wvorster 1 Posted November 30, 2012 Hello there,I've tried various things to try and resolve this , without any success , thus I am turning to the forum hoping someone could possibly offer some advice.Let me start off by saying my system spec is more than adequate for running dayZ and i have followed various optimization guides to ensure i get the maximum performance from dayz when i play... however ...I've noticed that my GPU's utilization rarely goes over 30%. Now even though this is usually fine as I play with vsync on and sitting on 60FPS , i am finding that in cities and towns , my GPU utilization drops even more 15 - 20% and resulting FPS loss down to as low as 35 FPS. Now as a test , i've removed Vsync and running around normally i can get anything from 80 FPS - 130 fps with most settings maxed out and obtain varying GPU utilization ( GPU utilization seems to improve the further away from cities i get ). But still experience the same behaviour when around cities. This however still raises concern as my GPU's utilization drops out in cities and my FPS does the same. There's clearly something going on here that I can't get my head around. How can i ensure that DayZ uses my GPU more and doesn't throttle the GPU utilization in cities? I would sometimes also get a random FPS drop at which point lowering HDR to normal and back up to Very High resolves.System specs:I7-3770k @ 4.8Ghz16GB Gskill RamSLI KFA2 GTX680 OCs 120GB Vertex 2 SSDI've tried all the usual suspects messing with SLI profiles , Drivers and RenderAheaFrames - without any success.Anyone have anything ?
rossums 2190 Posted November 30, 2012 Ensure the GPU memory usage in-game is set to the normal/default.Changing it to anything else just breaks stuff. The game is just very badly optimised, being a mod and all, it's just something you're going to have to live with till the release of the Standalone. rooneye 135 Posted November 30, 2012 Have you tried it without V-Sync on? I think this effect GPU Utilization.
