How do I find public servers?

Nothing against private hives, just played on one for a week or so but some shady stuff went on so I want to switch back to a public server. Also, I don't need a server with a gazillion vehicles, care packages or perks because I like the challenge of the original concept.

Now, what am I doing wrong in my search for servers, as it seems every single one of them is now a private hive?

hm that might be it indeed, just need some patience then..

As far as my searching goes, I use both the ingame MP server listings as Sixlauncher, both with limited filters such as max ping 50 etc.

Switch to Dayz Commander, you wont regret it. It makes 6 launcher look like it was a high school grade B project.

try widening your filters a bit then - a little more ping wont hurt... ;)
