Randomly Generated Maps

I would like this to be a final product sort of deal, but to my knowledge, maps get boring over time as maps of the map can be found on the internet. Along with where to find X-loot in Y-Building in Z-City. So, I suggest putting in randomly generated maps (Kind of following along the path of minecraft) Therefore each singleplayer game or server will offer uniquely different situations (and this would add another use for a map, rather than looking one up on the internet). Also, I think this brings back the fun of exploration in DayZ. This randomly generated map should include FINITE boundaries.

I'm not suggesting that you throw out the preset maps, but add an option to create a randomly generated map. Please note that I have no idea how much coding will be required in order to achieve this, as I am not a game coder.

Yeah, it's easy with minecraft because that's just what they do.

Making random maps on this and not having buildings inside of buildings or any of that would be almost impossible.

it would be crap, buildings would be in weird places all the time, sometimes buildings would go in water or embedded in the ground/each other, not really worth it

I personally don't like the idea but I knw many do. I think the thing that makes the maps work well ATM is because a lot of thought goes into their design. Randomly generated maps would just turn into a mess IMO.

I think he was talking about completely computer generated random maps like in Minecraft / Sim City / etc. and not randomly placed towns on a created map which isn't possible with the ArmA engine afaik.

Just give us a Nile esque map maker, click place an drop, create events, save and play! Yeah it will flood the web full of crap maps, but there will be some good ones!

I could spend my life making dream maps! Complex gamer unfriendly maps, the kind that offer a challenge

I do believe randomly generated maps will have items everywhere, and how you going to match the contours of the landscape? Maps all flat are good and proper but a lot of terrains and trees will break it up. And large maps will become frustrating trying to find limited resources.

While "buildings spawning inside other buildings" or "buildings spawning inside water" is not an issue as long as you know what you're doing, I agree with the guy who said it would just become a mess.

Imagine if World of Warcraft had randomly generated world :x

I'm all for randomly generated worlds, or at least huge maps (goddamn everytime i think about Fuel, that one had one of the biggest I played on !).

But yeah, the system might need some limitations to not turn into a huge mess...

Wouldn't it be possible to bring a bit of randomness into the current maps? Leave the towns and airfields the way they are, but randomly assign the deer stands to designated areas, and small settlements along roads.
