L85 AWS post 1.7.4

I saw in the new 1.7.4 patch notes that the l85 AWS has been removed. Since I had found one before then I still have the gun now post patch.

I wanted to know if I will be banned or kicked from servers from having this weapon or if it is best to just drop it. I am sure some server admins would assume it would be hacked in and kick/ban me if they saw it so I just wanted to ask if there would be any repercussions for having this gun.

You can keep and use it until you lose it. Private hive servers can always kick and ban for using it if they wish but you should be fine on the public servers.

I figure if you're on a Public Hive they'll start disappearing slowly, just get rid of it or trade it. So you don't lose it spontaneously and have nothing to defend yourself with.

I have a L85 on public hive and it stays in my backpack most of the time

because I still get script errors on some servers if I have it equipped.

I'm sad to see it go. Some might see the gun as an unfair advantage. I don't. Just like NVgogs everyone has the ability to find them. They are just rare. Being able to keep it though sounds as a particular unfair advantage. The only possibility of getting it now is to kill someone that has it and thus has an advantage over you. ( Assuming the people having it are smart enough not to die in another way) Taking the gun away doesn't sound fair either. I think ppl should get a replacement for the gun. If possible an item of their own choice. My vote though would be to bring it back.

There are other ways in which they van disappear: Exploding vehicle, flattened tent, backpack without enough space and finally death in combination with server restart before body is looted.

Duh... Everyone with a reasonable knowledge of this mod's mechanics could tell you that. Hence why I find it odd that Ander would spend the time to say that. And if that was his true meaning, why say it in such a cryptic way???

Yeah, 'cause quotes around a single word can't be used to change context or make it intentionally ambiguous. /sarcasm Don't be dumb, Sparky.

If you log in and find your weapon gone you would say: 'My DMR disappeared!?! OMG! This is like the worse DayZ moment ever! All my work on my ranging curves is WASTED! I'm gonna go to the forums and make a whiny post about how I'm quitting DayZ because of it.' You would have no idea if it was a bug or if it was removed on purpose.

I found it condescending that you assumed I didn't know how items can get destroyed through normal gameplay. I suppose that I can be rude but only to people that come off sounding like know-it-all douchebags.

Besides, this is the mod. Hacking will always be present and, by extension, L85s will be spawned in for quite some time because someone could claim it's been in a tent for months. Just look at how prevalent the AS50 TWS became. I doubt that normal gameplay will be enough to substantially decrease the inventories relative to active players in a reasonable amount of time.

Killed by a script kiddie group a couple of days ago. Found a L85 a day before that from an ATV when I was still playing in 1.7.3 (I had been alive for 2 weeks and just killing zombies, it was also the first L85 in my 120 game hour history). Now the game seems pointless to me, I scavenged 2 weeks with my friends for items and vehicles and when you finally found what you wanted, bam, it's gone and seems to be almost unavailable to find anymore without killing anyone.

That's just bad luck, sorry to hear you got it taken away at such great point of your gaming experience. Too many people use this gun to just thrill-kill bambies though. Whoever has this gun can almost always get a jump on someone who deosn't, and that's a vast majority on any server. An fair argument might be to compare this advantage to NVG, and as much as I love NVGs, I think the game and its atmosphere would be more fun if people had to use flashlights and flares and other light sources to travel at night.

I had watched Frankie's Youtube Post called "favourite weapons" and he said that in 1.7.5 it will be replaced by the L85 with Holo Sight...Now I don't know if it will replace the current guns as well as future spawns, but it will be the new L85 supposedly.
