Will Pistol damage tables be fixed in SA?

Recommended Posts

I've been reading up on the dayz standalone over the last couple weeks and I havn't seen anything about what the pistol damage tables will be. According to what I read from Rocket, a couple months ago, the change from the revolver doing 4.5k damage to 1.38k damage was arma 2's decision not the dayz devo team's. Does that mean in the SA pistols will be the 3 shot kill/ 2 shot knockout they used to be or does Rocket not plan on revisiting the pistol damage tables? Does anyone know if Rocket will be utilizing the old pistol damage table or the current one? As a side note I believe a 3 shot revolver kill was pretty accurate, so the old system would be the system I would choose if I were in charge.

Hope so, 8-9 shot revolver shots to kill is slightly unrealistic.

The standalone will be entirely independent from everything else, so Rocket pretty much will re-adjust everything as he sees fit, and will most definitely be able to change the values if the community feels they are unbalanced. So I doubt you'll have to worry about needing to put 6 .45 caliber bullets into someone's chest to just knock them out.

45 cal was designed to stop bodies under the influence of drugs. I.e. knock them down and out regardless of what the person's mental state was.

So "realism" wise it should do more than it currently does in game. Having to spend a whole mag to kill one thing is a bit absurd. Hope it gets adjusted.

Mr J Browning does not agree.

Lee-Enfield one shot kill again? <3

If I were shot with a .303 british cartridge in the chest without any body armour, I probably would be in some serious shit most likely incapacitated and probably bleeding out rather quickly. I mean, rangers in the north cary Lee Enfields because the .303 can stop a freaking polar bear. Don't know about one shot kills ALL the time, but I think one shot followed by some serious mass bleeding/incapacitation would be more realistic. Ive been shot with enfields in dayz and survived without much trouble these days. Besides, its one of the few bolt action rifles so the time inbetween shots is slower AND its freaking loud as all hell so it should have the advantage of a very high probability of a one shot kill.

I thought the weapons, were just copied from Arma2 (accept melee of course), and that in Arma2, the weapons were based on stats of their real world counterparts - ie the gun you have in DayZ will be about as accurate and powerful as its real life counterpart. This is what I thought we had, and what I definitely want to see.
