Leaderboards as replay ability

Just wondering if we can have any insight into how the leader boards will work and when they are planned to be up?

Is it a difficult situation to have near real time data from central server to the leader boards? I know me and a lot of others who could care less about main goals, objectives, or story driven replay ability, but this being a survival game, a no shit assessment of how long we survived and comparable data is deff desired.

The ability to see shortest time alive, longest, average and current would be great. Kills, animals skinned, loot picked up is really just icing on the cake at that point.

I imagine what may be taking so much time with the leader boards is scripting an easy and convenient way of searching for your own info and others.

Also, this is more of a suggestion but a quick one, how about ONLY considering a players in game time as "survival time". Anybody can create a character and than leave it idle forever to top the leaderboards.

Ingame time shouldn't be hard to add into the equation.

gametracker already tells you how many hours you played on any particular server plus your score.

I hope it lists things like :-

---------- Current Character for ID---------

player name

SCORE

days alive

hours played

kills zeds

murders

bandit kills

Humanity

distance walked

distance driven

distance flown

blood trans given

blood trans taken

num food eaten

fav food

num drinks drank

fav drink

fav skin

fav weapon

time spent next to others

time spent alone

Colds caught

damage taken

----- Best character for same ID---------

Highest days alive for this player

Highest zed kills for player

Highest murders for player

Highest bandit kills for player

The statistics in the newer Fallout games comes to mind. I like it. Just for the purposes of knowing what you have accomplished.

I don't like the idea of having a running leaderboard, or if there were, it would be a score based on a multitude of factors. Not just human or zombie kills. It would include distance travelled (including a breakdown of walk, run, sprint, low and high crawled, crouched), cans of beans consumed, canteens refilled, shots fired AND length of time you had a certain gun equipped without firing it. Percentage of the time your backpack was over 2/3 full. Length of time you spent with a main weapon with two or fewer magazines. Length of time with a mean weapon and 6 or more magazines. It can't favor a certain play style. Number of people you've ID'd and not shot. Number of people you've shot and not IDd. I guess that last one would only work on tag-enabled servers.

I'd like to know a lot of these things. I've been playing my current character for about 9 days now and I've only fired my M14 at one person who logged- no kill credit. I've fired it I think five other times. 4 animals, one zombie. Most zombies I have to kill I take out with my 1911.

Humanity murder kills etc are no good. Thats essentially telling you how someone plays when the mechanics in the game are so that you have to figure those things out yourself.

Not really unless your playing on a server that ..

1 allows side chat ... which most wont soon

or

2 allows tags ... which I'm hoping most wont soon

without those elements you would not know who the guy next to you is

Unless hes talking to you in direct.

If he is and you know hes a know nasty person from the leader boards that would be only similar to a WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE poster or word of mouth.

There is nothing stoping bandits from changing there ingame name either.

Which would be like someone telling you a lie about there name so no biggy.

I hope they bring "hours survived" back. Since the point of the game is survival this would make sense. It would also give people some sort of endgame goal to strife for without having to resort to non immersive game mechanics.

Murders and defenses (shooting vs returning fire) would have nothing to do with a status of any kind. They're just raw data. And yes, reading this data would tell someone exactly how a particular life was spent. That's the point. There's no incentive involved in any of this, it's just a record of how a game has been played. In fact, I'm against a leaderboard. I'm more for a database where you could search records based on filters, trends, and other criteria for informational purposes only. So what if somebody has the most kills. He doesn't get anything for it.
