Am I too friendly?

Recommended Posts

Newly spawned on a private hive with 30 or so players - this should be "fun" I recall saying to myself. As I spawned on the edge of Vorkuta I decided to head inland picking up several items on the way; an axe, a czech backpack and several painkillers. As I was walking around in the labyrinth that was Vorkuta I decided that checking out a few apartments would be a good idea until I heard gun shots...

I'd never been so scared! Not just one set of gun shots but several... I heard the direction of the bullets. Should I check it out? No I tell myself. I even see Zombies running into and climbing up the ladders of one of the bigger apartments in the the city. Would I gain the courage to take a leap of faith into the unknown and see what horrors await me at the top. I walked around hopelessly shouting in direction communication: "I'm friendly!", "Don't shoot me!" and "I have a crossbar, that is all...".

Would I dare? Of course I would, I never back down.

I took what could of been the biggest mistake of my DayZ life - however short it may have been - I decided to head for the ladder the Zombies were furiously attacking... The climb to the summit of the mountain-like building took forever. As I was climbing I had my finger constantly held on 'Caps Lock' trying to befriend whatever awaited me at the top. Friendly? Foe? Neither? I remember saying: "I'm going to be next up" - meaning the ladders - but I definitely was the next up... As I finally hit the top I saw dead Zombies, many dead Zombies. What had caused this?

It awaited me outside the door...

After claiming I was "friendly" once more - a billion times more - I decided to pluck up the courage and see what was out, on top of this building. "Oh God!" I cried but it was too late for even God himself to save me... I heard voices, some were laughing and the others were all just a blur. It was safe to say I had the largest amount of rounds loaded into my body from 5 guys - two of which were bandits. I hope they were pissed with what I had though.

They had planned this... 5 friends stood side-by-side ready to unleash hell. The firing line.

No, but you need more info before you charge in like you did. It also takes a heck of a lot of courage and patience, as you will die many times.

Lovely story. And yes. I must agree with you on this one. Possibly a bit too friendly. And a bit too eager to make friends :P haha.

You see, if this was me, I would have found a nice little scoped rifle and sit back in the distance and blow a few of them away. There is no such thing as making friends in DayZ ;)

Yeah man we all heard you coming up and decided to line up together, kinda make you have a "WTF" moment. We have quiet successfully ambushed around 6-8 people from up there, got some decent loot. Would like to mention we were fired upon first quite a few times and because we fired back we acquired the bandit skins that way.

I couldn't fire... The mighty crowbar failed me this time!

just dont let the asshats at the top get to you..

nothing wrong with be overly friendly.

DayZ is about starting over, much more so then some weird desire to keep ur gear and live forever..

Too friendly? There's no such thing! (unless you're touching my nipples, then I'd have to tell you to back the fuck up). Too careless? Yeah :D

Yeah we need more friendly players in the game! Don't worry about it, just be a bit more cautious next time

No, be as friendly as possible. When you find someone as equally friendly, you will make a life long friend.

Looking for friendlies is the fun part of the game for me.

It's not that you're too friendly, it's that you're not too bright. If you hear someone shooting, why would you run TOO them.

And there are never friendly people in cities.
