Safe to play?

I'm worried about logging in and dying to hackers, I see that some players are saying that there are still exploits happening. Is it on a mass scale as before, or are there just a small amount of cheats going on at the moment?

I have never once had a hacker kill me, explode me, or toss me into the air like the other players report. I guess it's just an unluckly fluke on a server every now and then.. So.. Play if you want to or stay off the servers until it's in Beta. Remember this is in Alpha, so expect to lose all of your gear, stats, vehicles, and all the lovely stuff now and again. ;D!

I've been tossed into the air and killed, and I've witnessed carpet bombings and other related hogwash.

Now, more than ever, your chances of dying to a hacker are substancially minimised - so yes, I'd say statistically speaking you are rather safe.

Yes I've also been reluctant to play, since I've spent a lot of time and have some very nice equip, I'd hate to lose it all from some hacker nuking the server

If you are so scared of dying that you don't even play.... that makes no sense to me at all. Half the fun is starting over....

I think you'll find most players of this mod maintain a level headed and optimistic mindset towards death in-game and restarting afterwards. This mentality, however, is cast aside rather quickly when your death is at the hands of some script kiddy against whom you personally have no means of retaliation.

Hard to see the fun in starting over when your death was, pardon the language, total fuckin' bullshit.

Yeah I can agree with it not being fun in that sense, but at the same time maintain that you are testing, and the tests may involve this for some time. Report testing results, then let it go (:

I fell from the top of a ladder to the bottom of a deer stand and held my breath in abject suspense just waiting for the crack/pop and seeing my guy flounder like a fish - nothing came of it however. He stayed rooted to the spot for a few seconds then I carried on my merry way - I'll consider this a stroke of luck that probably will not be repeated.

It's the same thing with people who buy nice sports cars and never drive them. I'm like "Wtf...why spend all the money if you don't drive it?"

You got the equipment, put it to use. You may lose it to hackers, but you get no benefit at all if you don't play the game.

Being so scared to lose your stuff that you begin to hesitate to play just proves how good DayZ is at what it was meant to do.

This is why we cant have nice things -_- but anyway only seen a few hacks like ppl mass spawn choppers (Crash server) and somebody made the server lag and put people in like a lag world where there was no trees or anything but a few people like right next to each otherbut i have not seen that for sometime now

This is why my group stage zombie 'last stands' as they've come to be called.

A few times now we've died geared to the teeth having never even fired the gun we treasure so dearly - So now we make a point of going somewhere busy, like the Berezino office building, and just blasting zombies endlessly until we get bored.

Gets rid of our extra ammo so our tents don't get jam-packed with 30 Stanag mags, and lets us all blow off some steam whilst trying out our weapons.

I was killed by a Hack only once- this was before the Global Bans -Glad they happen =)

I look at the game as your going to die sooner or later.

If there are any new Hackers out there we as players need to be playing so if a Nuke event happens the proper people can be alerted and then they can be tracked and dealt with.

We are Alpha tester gamers and the people who can alert when a hack does happen.

Its like the Tree falls in the forest -does it make a nose? WE will be there if a Hacker does make a noise and then alert the proper people. So it can stop.
