tacticaljim 28 Posted June 16, 2012 Social aspects need to be added into the game. People survive better as a group (overall). Right now are there positives to lone wolfing? Yes...these include being able to control your environment so someone else doesn't get you killed. Are there positives to banditry? Hell yeah, I kill you and take your shitPositives to bring in group now? Socialization and organized looting...where are the negatives? How bout: Lone wolfs: significantly lower chances you will find medium and high end loot.Bandits: innocence system. New players spawn in with medium innocencelonger you go without killing players with higher or equal innocence to yours the better off you are. Loot (reward) is easier to find. Kill indiscriminately and your innocence drops causing you to become worn in the face and causing you to rely more heavily on killing players in order to servive...just so happens that in order to be successful youll have to kill players in groups if you want any worthy loot. Then add a grouping function. I meet a player in game, friend him and trade walkie talkies to enable communication (group von).
Asuka 20 Posted June 16, 2012 But that would force players to play a specific way in order to succeed in the game, that goes against the basic rules of a sandbox game, didn't rocket already state that he wouldn't be punishing players for playing a specific way? Unless of course they were scripting/hacking.And that would be an even bigger incentive to loot farming, imagine all the good spots in the map occupied 24/7 by bandits because they couldn't obtain them normally, now imagine other groups wanting to move into those spots because the other ones are already occupied and they need their gear as well. And what realistic mechanic would explain the fact that the nicer you are the more gear you find? Oh, and then there's the fact that a lone wolf would just kill a better geared player to get the gear he couldn't find before, if anything you're forcing other people to kill others simply because they couldn't obtain their gear through the usual method. mbeef 0 Posted June 16, 2012 Its fine as it is now.Bandits are a core part of this game and are very realistic. People aren't trustworthy and you have to take chances to either build trust or get rewarded. I think I saw something mentioning groups in the future, or clans at least; some form of grouping. robosheriff 13 Posted June 16, 2012 Walkie talkies/radios are being added in the next patch, and even tho almost everything you suggested is a good idea. i think that the DayZ Dev team are keeping the HUD as simple as possible.Or else we might be ending up with thisAlso the banditry is okay as it is we just need things to encourage teaming up, not putting up some automated morality system. triplejjj36089@hotmail.com 1 Posted June 16, 2012 In a post apocalyptic world where the surviving population is survivors and bandits which do you think is going to be more populated? Bandits of course, evil has always been more enticing in every scenario, limiting or penalizing this real life scenario ruins the immersion.
dogsbd 12 Posted June 16, 2012 Best way to combat bandits is to be part of a group, so make being part of a group easier as I have detailed in the thread linked in my sig.
