doodleisbrutal 33 Posted November 14, 2012 Please? I don't want to use 50 jerrycans to refuel a helicopter, cant you we find a gas truck or something? park it next to a gas station and get gas for the tank, and then drive it to places? like a portable gas station, only limited, which brings me to the next thing, siphon, can there be a way to siphon gas out of vehicles? say you just wrecked your car, can't there be a way to siphon the gas so it wont go to waste? Psyl3nt 125 Posted November 14, 2012 I'd be happy to see a better way to refuel the choppers. It's very painful even when you land the chopper right next to the gas station you still have to do a stupid amount of back and forth.
Toastedzen 80 Posted November 14, 2012 I just hope that they do not take away the barrier field which keeps zombies from attacking as you fill the Heli. But really, this is realistic. They should not change it. The risk vs. reward is far, and IRL it would take you a lot longer to fill a heli with a jerry can. You can use four at once in DayZ. You cannot do that in real life. Dreygar (DayZ) 178 Posted November 14, 2012 Siphoning is something I'd like to see, but I think the current refueling method is a good balance. Don't run the thing till empty, and if you have multiple jerry cans use multiple people to refill it. Fills up fast that way.We could always complicate things and make fuel more elaborate. Some helicopters can fly on Diesel, some vehicles can only run Regular gasoline. Neither of which would be stored in the same tank. Wouldn't mind seeing a fuel truck being added to the game either way though.
Psyl3nt 125 Posted November 14, 2012 On the realism note, I wouldn't use a jerry can, I'd run a hose from the fuel bowser / tanker to the chopper and do it that way.
caffeind 10 Posted November 14, 2012 It's pretty easy to fill a chopper from empty to full in 13 trips.Carry four jerrycans, refuel one, get in chopper, get out, refuel the next in, out refuel, in out, refuel, in out fill jerry cans.Getting in and out of the chopper is faster than 'waiting' for the jerry can to finish filling.Might be abuse of a bug, but nothing compared to vehicles auto fixing themselves.Cheers. OrLoK 16185 Posted November 14, 2012 Hello thereI'm in a different camp. Aviation fuel should be rare and only available at Aerodromes. I may be wrong but I dont think helo's would like normal 4* unleaded. This would also offset the fact that we are all qualified helo pilots and mechanics.rgdsLoK
Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted November 14, 2012 Yes i agree, make it harder to refuel or at least have the correct provisions at air fields. If they use the controls from TOH then the fuel will be the last of your worries!Perhaps a fuel truck which was on route prior to the spread of the infection, could be located randomly on the map, giving it a logical need and something to fight / trade over! This would limit the use of choppers and would be realistic. If I was in a survival point and knew the location of a chopper, it would be a hub of activity, a survivor area with the correct facilities to fuel said chopper. Psyl3nt 125 Posted November 14, 2012 I like the airfield idea, it makes sense that an airfield would have the fuel type and ergo be the only place to get it.
