The Bean Marine 29 Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) My "Bambi" helpSo when i first started up i looked at the forums a lot to check if there were any guides or so on to get gear with out getting killed every 2 minutes well here's how i started in the beginning i played on servers with 1-5 players (Too Afraid to play on more populated servers) well this worked fine well if you spawn near the shore in the right corner it should say on the 2nd line where you spawned go to the DayZdb.com/map and find the location when you finally found it head for the big cities like Chernogorsk, Elektrozadovsk, maybe Balota Airfield...Recommended loadout2x Morphine (Found at hospitals)2x Painkillers (Found at hospitals, houses, stores and more locations)1x Heatpack (Almost everywhere but mostly in houses and stores)2x Blood Transfusion (Found at hospitals only another player can use it on you)2x Drinks (Found almost everywhere)2x Food (Also found almost everywhere)4x Clips of ammo (Found mostly in Military Buildings)3x Bandages (Found in Hospitals and regular buildings)ServersU probably want to avoid the Private Hive servers cause your gear won't be saved and you can only play with the gear you find on the server on that serveryou should also join a server on Easy if you are new or Normal since the zombies dosen't do so much damage in expert they'll probably just break your legs1-5 players (If you don't want to get thrown into Pvp situations or just want some good gear w/o getting killed)5-10 (Small chance of meeting other players in high trafficed areas like Cherno, Elektro, NW Airfield so on.)10-20 (if you want a bit challenge from the start and kill some bandits)20-40 (you will probably meets lots of other players and will be killed a lot unless you have some skills)Where do i find good gear?Places to head to if you want some good military gear instead of a makarovStary Sobor (Chance of getting good weps)Navy Sobor (Removed since it's just a normal town silly me :3)NW Airfield (lots of military loot head for the Barracks if you want some good ones though)Balota Airfield (Also chance of getting some good weapons)Ofc there's more locations but these are the ones i choosed..Zombies...Zombies are a bit buggy at the time since they are Soldiers using other sounds and skins so the zombies are Zig-Zagging like a normal soldier would do to avoid bullets so it might not be easy if a big horde of zombies are chasing you go for Pinetrees/Bushes and run through the Branches so the zombies will go to your last known location or going up mountains since the zombies can't follow you and you'll have a chance of shooting them or make a run for it don't make too much noise/stay low the zombies are able to see and hear you and will chase you if you make too much noise or you are easy to be seen keep your head down and cheat those nasty bastards...Don't be hatin' this thread is for newer players with out experience in the game and if i missed something write it in the chat if you liked this gimmeh your beans thank you :3 Edited November 16, 2012 by Peter Larsen

RJTurneR 112 Posted November 16, 2012 Couple of tips from myself that I've picked up over the last couple months.... Tap Left CTRL twice to put your gun (Not have it raised). Can sometimes save you when coming across player in Cherno, Electro, etc.. Players don't like people aiming at them.. Don't be afraid. Seriously.. Don't. I recently followed a new player for 15 minutes in the dark, as he crawled all the way to Balota. That can't be enjoyable. Once you've got a hatchet or gun, zombies are just whitenoise.. To add to that, don't get attached to your gear. There's no point in playing the game if your just going to avoid any built up area. Your going to die at some point, so just have fun. Take risks.. I find that you can usually get yourself geared up within an hour. Balota, Cherno, Electro, etc.. You spawn quite near to all of these places, and you can usually find a Lee Enfield, a Makarov, and some general supplies pretty easily.. If your playing on a server that has night time, then use it your advantage. A lot of players seem to prefer these 24/7 daylight servers.. I hate them. Night time is great. Places like Cherno and Electro almost go to cease fire, so it's a great time to find some good loot. Plus your less likely to aggro zombies at night.I could come up with god knows how many other bits of advice, but I can't think of any more right now.

You dont. Obviously if you find that style fun, do it.And OP there are no military spawns or anything in Novy Sobor its just like any other small town. Nothing special there. Statik (DayZ) 2695 Posted November 18, 2012 Very good guide! Here are a few changes of mine though:Regarding your "recommended loadout" I strongly agree. But that is because I am actually a medic and I usually play in teams. If you are planning to roll solo, ditch the blood bags. They are not necessary as you will need another player to give you one. Instead, make sure you have a Hatchet (commonly found in residential and industrial areas), Hunting Knife (Found in residential areas, industrial areas, and the store), and Matches (again store, residential, and industrial). This way you can cook meat and always keep around 4 on you so you can get that blood back up!And a quick "pro" tip: Always keep as much as you can in your backpack. If I has the same load out as in this post. I would keep on me, 1 morphine, 1 painkiller, one steak/bloodbag, and 3 mags. This way you can have some clear inventory space so if you need to run in, grab something and get out fast you can do so without having to worry about screwing around with your backpack.Good luck bambies! And remember, if you ever need any medical help, don't forget to contact The Trusted Medics of the Wasteland, we are here to help! Our website (You do not need an account to post a medical help thread): www.trusted-medics-ofthe-wasteland.comDayZ Forums Thread: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/99986-need-medical-assistance-find-a-medic-here/Teamspeak Server: ts.dayzmedics.com
grylsyjaeger 171 Posted November 18, 2012 Its sad that you think the be all and end all of this game is to get gear. It's sad you've let to realize the better equipped you are, the easier you can survive.Got all the gear? I'll still go out player hunting.

They are not necessary as you will need another player to give you one.Actually I would highly recommend that players keep at least ONE bloodbag in their alice pack. If you are injured during your solo play and you cry out for some help. There could be someone near you that doesn't have a bloodbag or doesn't carry them, then at least they can go into your pack and get it out and assist you. :) I always carry 1 blood bag, 1-2 morphine and 2 - 3 bandages.
