Will the mod be the same as the standalone?

Hi i havent bought arma yet but i really want to play dayZ and i read that the mod will still continue to be updated along side the standalone but will the standalone have more than the mod? Should i just wait to buy the standalone when it comes out?

I believe the mod will still be updated, however I highly doubt it will be as advanced. The Standalone will be capable of things the mod cannot, and rightfully so, considering we're paying for it. I believe it is worth waiting for the standalone.

i think im going to stick with only buying the standalone, any idea on what the price will be when it comes out? if its like 10 bucks then yeah ill totally buy arma 2 now.

From what we've heard it will be 10-15 bucks for the alpha (like minecraft).

Buy both, I've had DayZ almost from go, I have had so much fun it doesn't warrant thinking about.

When the SA comes out, the MOD will go in a separate direction, these forums are going to be very interesting. One group commenting on things the other side don't have access to.

Then the non mod owners will be buying ARMA 2 all over, because the mod owners will be inundated with more stuff (a community vs 1 team are going to be more productive) existing mods added towards the dayz mod, take your pick, it will happen!

I'd get both the Standalone is supposed to be around $15 (us) so it's pocket change either way. And you get ARMA II which is alot of fun on it's own.

The mod will continue to be updated by modders and the current community in private hives if they feel like doing so, but Dean will be moving to the standalone and leaving the mod alone as soon as he does.
