Well, after a few days of surviving on basic rations and limited weaponry, I decided to wander over to balota to see what these airstrips are all about. Being really new it was my first ever trip and I was looking forward to some decent weapons. Unfortunately there was absolutely nothing useful apart from an M9 with one clip, but in the process I did get knocked out by a zombie and lost all but the last dregs of my blood whilst unconscious.

Anyone in the area that can help me out? I have a blood bag, but I'm afraid of needles and can't give it to myself :oD

Protip, balota isn't where all the good loot is. Wrong airstrip bud, look north, a lot more north.

Well, I wasn't expecting awesome gear, just something a bit better than an M9. I don't think I fancy a trip up north just yet. I've only played the game 4 times so I'm pretty sure I'd last about 5 minutes in bandit country. But someday, perhaps when I have a bit of backup, I'll wander off into the hills.

Anyway, I found M14 AIM at Balota before so it can have decent weaponry, it's just rare. Also may wanna check deer stands, especially between Balota and international airport, I've found M16's and dmr's among others that way.

jspec I spent the first month or so without heading even remotely North. You can find tons of stuff at Balota and the major towns.

I don't know where you checked, exactly, but don't forget the 4 'deer stands' by the fenced off section to the Southeast of the Balota airstrip.

In the strip itself, check the 2 hangars and the ATC tower.

M9 is a decent find. Better than my first few runs of Balota Airfield, where all I found was trash and residential ammo. Be happy you are at least armed.

Those deer stands are where I ran into trouble. They're also where I found the M9. There were 2 zombies permanently under each deer hut, so the dilemma was, do I open fire and hope I can reload fast enough to kill all of them with a makarov, or do I try and sneak up the ladder and shoot them whilst I'm up there. I chose the latter............. Which then turned into the former :oD
