Recommended Posts

Hey lads.

This directed to the more tech savy members.

I have been away from pc gaming for quite some time dayz made me go and build a gaming rig

the specs are

win 7 64

cpu i 3570k not boosted (3.4ghz)

gigabyte GA z77- ud3h z77

WD caviar black HDD (arma dayz install)

Intel sdd 128mb

memory lapse on psu but its a 850

watt power intake brand

Gpu gtx 680 gainward phantom

and 8gb DDR3 G.skill ares

i struggle around 60 fps i have read numerous forums and have managed to bring it up from 30 fps

I assume this pc should handle arma a little better then this i,m 90% sure everything is updated will check this when i finish work

i was thinking of putting arma on the sdd but would require removal of other games

any other ideas to get better performance excuse my nooberish.

And bad post using my phone at work

cheers guys appreciate any help

It doesn't matter if you have the best rig in the world, you might still get bad fps if you don't have the right settings, that PC should run a little bit better, but you gotta play around with the settings, also make sure you're playing on servers with low PING. Also I would consider overclocking the cpu if you keep getting bad fps issues

Hello there

60fps isn't bad at all. Personally I'm very jealous.

Arma/Dayz can be a bugger to any rig, gotta fiddle with your settings/cfg files and start up params to get the most out of the game.

I suggest looking in the threads over at the Bohemia forums a they are very in depth indeed. The various guides here will also assist.

If you're playing on fairly high graphics settings then struggling around 60 FPS sounds about right, lol. ArmA 2/DayZ is just a beast...

As others mentioned 60fps is good for DayZ.

But just make sure also that you don't have any sort of VSync turned on.

VSync will limit your fps to your monitors refresh rate which is usually 60hz on bog standard LCD's, hence 60fps max.

There is a VSync option on/off in your graphics cards control panel in Win7. there is also a VSync option in the graphics options in Arma's main menus.

To double check for example I have fraps running in the background showing my ingame FPS, on the main menus in Arma I get about 130-150fps on the fps counter.

But ofc when I go ingame it drops right down to between 40-70fps.

If your on the main menu in Arma and your FPS counter is saying 60fps and is just stuck there then thats a good indication that you have VSync turned on somewhere.
