What a wonderful suggestion popped up in my head about realistic zombies

I like the thought of zeds being more difficult, I like them "investigating". What I think they need to do though is make them less intelligent in locating exactly where a shot comes from...they hear the noise but can't pinpoint it came from a roof 18 blocks away. If someone shoots a rifle in the forest you don't see exactly where it was shot but have a good idea the general direction right. How would a zed know that you shot from the hill half way up laying under a bush in a ghillie suit and zero in on you in 2 seconds? That's what I want to change if I shoot 1 time and roll to a new position the zeds shouldn't be able to still pinpoint where I'm at.
